Woe to every backbiter* and carper,

Woe (Wai'lun) to (Li) every (Kulli) backbiter (Humazatin)* and carper (Lumazat'),

who gathers wealth and counts it,

who (Ellazii) gathers (Jamaä) wealth (Maalan) and (Wa) counts it (Äddada-hu),

thinking that his wealth will make him immortal.

thinking (Yah'sabu) that (Anna) his wealth (Maala-hu) will make him immortal (Akh'lada-hu).

Nay! He will be discarded into the debris.

Nay (Kallaa)! He will be (La) discarded (Yunbazanna) into (Fii) the debris (El'Hutoma').

And what will make you know what is the debris?

And (Wa) what (Maa) will make you (s) know (Ad'raa-ka) what (Maa) is the debris (El'Hutoma')?

It is the kindled fire of GOD,

It is the kindled (El'Muuqada') fire of GOD (Naaru-llahi),

which overtakes the minds.

which (Ellatii) overtakes (Tattoliu Älaa) the minds (El'Af'ida').

Indeed, it will be shut against them

Indeed, it (Innahaa) will be shut (Mu'sodat') against them (Älai'him)

within extended pillars.

within (Fii) extended (Mumaddadat') pillars (columns) (Amadin).
