And when they returned to their father, they said, "O our father, the measure from us was forbidden, so send our brother with our group; and indeed, we will be his guardians."
And (Wa) when (Lamma) they returned (Raja'uu') to (ilaa) their father (Abii-him'), they said (Qaalu),"O (Yaa) our father (Abaa-naa), the measure (El'Kai'lu) from us (Minnaa) was forbidden (Muniä), so (Fa)send (Ar'sil') our brother (Akhaa-naa) with our group (Nak'tal'); and (Wa) indeed (Innaa), we will be (La)his guardians (Haafizuun Lahu)."
He said, "Shall I entrust you with him just as I entrusted you with his brother before? But GOD is the best Guardian, for HE is the Most Merciful of those who are merciful."
He (the father) said (Qaala), "Shall (Hal) I entrust you (Aamanu-kum') with him (Älai'hi) just (illa) as(Kamaa) I entrusted you (Amintu-kum') with (Älaa) his brother (Joseph) (Akhii-hi) before (Min Qab'lu)? But (Fa)GOD (Ellahu) is the best (Khai'run) Guardian (Haafizoan), for (Wa) HE (Huwa) is the Most Merciful(Ar'hamu) of those who are merciful (Er'Raahimiin)."
And when they opened their belongings, they found their goods returned to them. They said, "O our father, what could we desire? These are our goods returned to us. We will provide for our family, and guard our brother, and increase to the measure of a camel. That is an easy measure."
And (Wa) when (Lammaa) they opened (Fatahu') their belongings (Mataa'ä-hum), they found(Wajaduu') their goods (Bidoa'äta-hum') returned (Ruddat') to them (ilai'him'). They said (Qaalu), "O (Yaa)our father (Abaa-naa), what (Maa) could we desire (Nab'gii)? These (Haazihi) are our goods (Bidoa'ätu-naa)returned (Ruddat') to us (ilai'naa). We will provide for (Namiiru) our family (Ah'la-naa), and guard(Nah'fazu) our brother (Akhaa-naa), and (Wa) increase (Naz'daadu) to the measure (Kai'la) of a camel(Baeerin). That (Zaalika) is an easy (Yasiir) measure (Kai'lu)."
He said, "I will never send him with you until you give me an agreement by GOD that you will bring him to me, unless you are surrounded."And when theygave him their agreement, he said, "GOD is a Representative over what we say."
He (the father) said (Qaala), "I will never (Lan') send him (Ur'sila-hu) with you (Maäkum') until (Hatta)you give me (Tu'tuuni) an agreement (Maw'thiqan) by GOD (Minallahi) that (La) you will bring him to me(Ta'tunnanii Bi-hi), unless (illa An) you are surrounded (Yuhaato Bi-kum’)." And (Fa) when (Lammaa) theygave him (Aataw'hu) their agreement (Maw'thiqa-hum'), he said (Qaala), "GOD (Ellahu) is a Representative(Wakiil) over (Älaa) what (Maa) we say (Yaquulu)."
And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from a single gate; but enter from separated gates; and I cannot avail you against GOD at all. The judgement is only for GOD; on HIM I have relied, and so let those of confidence rely on HIM."
And (Wa) he (the father) said (Qaala), "O (Yaa) my sons (Baniyya), do not (Laa) enter (Tad'khuluu') from(Min) a single (Waahidin) gate (door) (Baabin); but (Wa) enter (Ed'khulu') from (Min') separated(Mutafarriqatin) gates (Ab'waabin); and (Wa) I cannot (Maa) avail you (Ug'nii Än-kum) against GOD(Minallahi) at all (Min Shai'in). The judgement (El'Huk'mu) is only (In illa) for GOD (Lillahi); on HIM (Älai'hi)I have relied (Tawakkal'tu), and (Wa) so let (Fal') those of confidence (El'Mutawakkiluun) rely (Yatawakkali)on HIM (Älaihi)."
And when they entered from where their father had instructed them, it did not avail them against GOD at all, except a need within the soul of Jacob, which he issued. And indeed, he possessed knowledge of what We had taught him, but most of the people did not know.
And (Wa) when (Lammaa) they entered (Dakhalu') from (Min') where (Hai'thu) their father (Abuuhum) had instructed them (Amara-hum'), it did (Kaana) not (Maa) avail them (Yug'nii Än-hum) against GOD (Minallahi) at all (Min Shai'in), except (illa) a need (Haajatan) within (Fii) the soul (mind) (Naf'si) of Jacob (the father) (Ya'quuba), which he issued (Qadoa-haa). And (Wa) indeed, he (Innahu) possessed (Lazuu)knowledge (il'min) of what (Limmaa) We had taught him (Ällam'naa-hu), but (Walaakinna) most (Ak'thara)of the people (En'naasi) did not (Laa) know (Ya'lamuun).
And when they entered to Joseph, he provided shelterfor his brother; he said, "Indeed, I am your brother; so do not despair of what they have been doing."
And (Wa) when (Lamma) they entered (Dakhalu') to (Älaa) Joseph (Yuusufa), he provided shelterfor (Aawaa ilai'hi) his brother (Akhaa-hu); he (Joseph) said (Qaala), "Indeed (Innii), I am (Ana') your brother(Akhuu-ka); so (Fa) do not (Laa) despair (Tab'tais') of what (Bimaa) they have been (Kaanu') doing (Ya'maluun)."
So when he supplied them with their equipments,he placed a water container into his brother's baggage. Then an announcer announced, "O caravan, indeed you are thieves."
So (Fa) when (Lammaa) he supplied them (Jahhaza-hum) with (Bi) their equipments (Jahaazi-him),he placed (Jaäla) a water container (Es'Siqaayata) into (Fii) his brother's (Akhii-hi) baggage (Rah'li). Then(Thumma) an announcer (Muazzinun) announced (Azzana), "O (Ayyatuhaa) caravan (El'Eeru), indeed you(Innakum') are (La) thieves (Saariquun)."
They said while approaching to them, "What did you lose?"
They (the brothers) said (Qaalu') while (Wa) approaching (Aq'baluu') to them (Älai'him), "What (Maazaa)did you lose (Taf'qiduun)?"
They said, "We lost the king's jar. And forwhoever brings it is a camel's load, and I am the leader for it."
They (the accusers) said (Qaaluu'), "We lost (Naf'qidu) the king's (El'Maliki) jar (Suwaa'ä). And (Wa) forwhoever (Liman) brings it (Jaa'a Bi-hi) is a camel's (Baeerin) load (Him'lu), and (Wa) I am (Ana') the leader(Zaeem) for it (Bihi)."
They said, "By GOD, you certainly know that we didnot come to corrupt in the land, and we are not thieves."
They (the brothers) said (Qaalu'), "By GOD (Ta'llahi), you certainly (Laqad') know (Älim'tum) that we didnot (Maa) come (Ji'naa) to (Li) corrupt (Nuf'sida) in (Fii) the land (El'Ar'di), and (Wa) we are (Kunnaa) not(Maa) thieves (Saariqiin)."
They said, "So what should be its requital, if you are liars?"
They (the accusers) said (Qaalu'), "So (Fa) what (Maa) should be its requital (Jazaau-hu), if (In) you are(Kuntum') liars (Kaazibiin)?"
They said, "Its requital shall be the one in whose baggage it is found, thus he will be its requital. Thus do Werequite the transgressors."
They (the accusers) said (Qaalu'), "Its requital (Jazaau-hu) shall be the one (Man) in (Fii) whose baggage(Rah'li-hi) it is found (Wujida), thus (Fa) he (Huwa) will be its requital (Jazaau-hu). Thus (Kazaalika) do Werequite (Naj'zii) the transgressors (Ez'Zoalimiin)."
So he started with their containers before thecontainer of his brother, then he extracted it from hisbrother's container. Thus did We scheme for Joseph;he could not have taken his brother by the religion ofthe king unless GOD had willed. We raise whomever We will in degrees, for above every possessor ofknowledge is the All-Knowing.
So (Fa) he (Joseph) started (Bada'a) with (Bi) their containers (Aw'ieyati-him) before (Akhii-hi) thecontainer (Wi'ääi) of his brother (Akhii-hi), then (Thumma) he extracted it (Es'takh'raja-haa) from (Min) hisbrother's (Akhii-hi) container (Wi'ääi). Thus (Kazaalika) did We scheme (Kid'naa) for (Li) Joseph (Yuusufa);he could (Kaana) not (Maa) have (Li) taken (Ya'khuza) his brother (Akhaa-hu) by (Fii) the religion (Diini) ofthe king (El'Maliki) unless (illaa An) GOD had willed (Yashaa'a-llahu). We raise (Nar'fau) whomever (Man)We will (Nashaa'u) in degrees (Darajaatin), for (Wa) above (Faw'qa) every (Kulli) possessor (Zii) ofknowledge (il'min) is the All-Knowing (Äliim).
They said, "If he stole, so has his brother stolen before."But Joseph captured it within himself and did not make it appear to them. He said, "You are worse in position, for GOD is aware of what you describe."
They (the brothers) said (Qaaluu'), "If (In) he stole (Yas'riq'), so (Fa) has (Qad') his brother (Joseph) (Akhun)stolen (Saraqa) before (Min Qab'lu)." But (Fa) Joseph (Yuusufu) captured it (Asarra-haa) within (Fii) himself(Naf'si-hi) and (Wa) did not (Lam') make it appear (Yub'di-haa) to them (Lahum'). He said (Qaala), "You(Antum') are worse (Sharrun) in position (Makaanan), for (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is aware (A'lamu) of what(Bimaa) you describe (Tasifuun)."
They said, "O you nobleman, indeed he has a father; who is very old, so take one of us in his place. Indeed, we see you are of the benevolent."
They (the brothers) said (Qaalu'), "O you (Yaa Ayyuhaa) nobleman (El'Äziizu), indeed he has a father(Aban); who is very (Kabiiran) old (Shai'khan), so (Fa) take (Khuz') one of us (Ahada-naa) in his place(Makaana-hu). Indeed (Innaa), we see you (Naraa-ka) are of (Mina) the benevolent (El'Muh'siniin)."
He said, "I seek refuge with GOD that we should take other than he whom we found our belongings with.Indeed, we in that case would be unjust."
He (Joseph) said (Qaala), "I seek refuge with GOD (Ma'ääza-llahi) that (An) we should take (Na'khuza)other than (illa) he (-hu) whom (Man) we found (Wajad'naa) our belongings (Mataa'ä-naa) with (Enda-).Indeed, we (Innaa) in that case (Izan) would be (La) unjust (Zoalimuun)."
So when they had despaired of him, they concluded in secret. Their senior said, "Do you not know that your father has taken an agreement with you by GOD, and before that you let loose regarding Joseph? Therefore I will never leave the land until my father permits me or GOD judges for me; for HE is thebest of judges.
So (Fa) when (Lammaa) they had despaired (Es'tai'asu') of him (Min'hu), they concluded (Khalasu')in secret (Najiyya). Their senior (Kabiiru-hum) said (Qaala), "Do you not (Laa) know (Ta'lamuu') that (Anna)your father (Abaa-kum') has (Qad') taken (Akhaza) an agreement (Maw'thiqan) with you (Älai'kum) by GOD(Minallahi), and (Wa) before (Min Qab'lu) that (Maa) you let loose (Farrattum') regarding (Fii) Joseph(Yuusufa)? Therefore (Fa) I will never (Lan) leave (Ab'raha) the land (El'Ar'do) until (Hattaa) my father (Abii)permits me (Ya'zana Lii) or (Aw') GOD (Ellahu) judges (Yah'kuma) for me (Lii); for (Wa) HE (Huwa) is thebest (Khai'ru) of judges (El'Haakimiin).
