28:44 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And you were not at the western side when We issued the command to Moses, nor were you of the witnesses.

And (Wa) you (s) were (Kunta) not (Maa) at (Bi) the western (El'Gar'biyyi) side (Jaanibi) when (Iz') We issued (Qadoi'naa) the command (El'Am'ra) to (ilaa) Moses (Muusa), nor (Wamaa) were you (s) (Kunta) of (Mina) the witnesses (Es'Shaahidiin).

But We established generations and prolonged the lifetime for them. And you were not an inhabitant among the people of Midian, reciting Our verses to them, however We were transmitting,

But (Walaakinnaa) We established (Ansha'naa) generations (Quruunan) and (Fa) prolonged (Tatoawala) the lifetime (El'Umuru) for them (Älai'himu). And (Wa) you (s) were (Kunta) not (Maa) an inhabitant (Thaawiyyan) among (Fii) the people (Ah'li) of Midian (Mad'yana), reciting (Tat'lu') Our verses (Aayaati-naa) to them (Älai'him), however (Walaakinna) We were (Kunna) transmitting (Mur'siliin),

nor were you at the side of the Mount when We called, but it is a mercy from your LORD so that you may warn a people to whom no warner had come before you perhaps they will take heed.

nor (Wamaa) were you (s) (Kunta) at (Bi) the side (Jaanibi) of the Mount (Ettuuri) when (Iz') We called (Naadai'naa), but (Walaakin) it is a mercy (Rah'matan) from (Min) your LORD (Rabbi-ka) so that (Li) you may warn (Tunzira) a people (Qaw'man) to whom (-hum) no (Maa) warner (Naziirin) had come (Ataa-) before you (s) (Min Qab'li-ka) perhaps they (Laällahum') will take heed (Yatazakkaruun).

28:47 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And if not that a misfortune should strike them for what their hands have sent forth, then they would say, "Our LORD, why did YOU not send a messenger to us, then we could follow YOUR verses and be among the believers?"

And (Wa) if not (Law' Laa) that (An) a misfortune (Musiibatu) should strike them (Tusiiba-hum) for what (Bimaa) their hands (Ai'dii-him') have sent forth (Qaddamat'), then (Fa) they would say (Yaquulu'), "Our LORD (Rabba-naa), why (Law') did YOU not (Laa) send (Ar'sal'ta) a messenger (Rasuulan) to us (ilai'naa), then (Fa) we could follow (Nattabiä) YOUR verses (Aayaati-ka) and (Wa) be (Nakuuna) among (Mina) the believers (El'Mu'miniin)?"

28:48 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?"Or did they not disbelieve in what was given to Moses before? They said, "Two sorceries supporting each other,” and they said, "Indeed, we are disbelievers in both."

But (Fa) when (Lammaa) the truth (El'Haqqu) came to them (Jaa'a-humu) from Us (Min' Endi-naa), they said (Qaalu'), "Why (Law') was he (Mohammed) not (Laa) given (Uutiya) like (Mith'la) that which (Maa) was given (Uutiya) to Moses (Muusaa)?" Or did they not (Awalam') disbelieve (Yak'furu') in what (Bimaa) was given to (Uutiya) Moses (Muusaa) before (Min Qab'lu)? They said (Qaalu'), "Two sorceries (Sih'raani) supporting each other (Tazoaharaa),” and (Wa) they said (Qaaluu'), "Indeed, we (Innaa) are disbelievers (Kaafiruun) in (Bi) both (Kullin)."

28:49 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Say:"Then bring a book from GOD which has better guidance than both that I may follow it, if you should be truthful."

Say (Qul'): "Then (Fa) bring (Etu' Bi) a book (Kitaabin) from GOD (Min' Endi-llahi) which (Huwa) has better guidance (Ah'daa) than both (32:23) (Min'humaa) that I may follow it (Attabi'hu), if (In) you should be (Kuntum') truthful (Soadiqiin)."

28:50 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And if they do not respond to you, then know that they only follow their inclinations. And who is more astray than one who follows his inclination without guidance from GOD? Indeed, GOD does not guide the transgressing people.

And (Fa) if (In) they do not (Lam') respond to you (s) (Yas'tajiibu' Laka), then (Fa) know (E'lam') that they only (Annamaa) follow (Yattabiuuna) their inclinations (Ah'waa'a-hum'). And (Wa) who (Man') is more astray (Adollu) than one who (Mimmani) follows (Ettabaä) his inclination (Hawaa-hu) without (Bi-Gai'ri) guidance (Hudan) from GOD (Minallahi)? Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) does not (Laa) guide (Yah'dii) the transgressing (Ez'Zoalimiin) people (El'Qaw'ma).

And when it is recited to them, they say, "We believe in it; indeed, it is the truth from our LORD. Indeed, we were submitters before it."

And (Wa) when (Izaa) it is recited (Yut'laa) to them (Älai'him'), they say (Qaaluu'), "We believe (Aamannaa) in it (Bihi); indeed, it (Innahu) is the truth (El'Haqqu) from (Min) our LORD (Rabbi-naa). Indeed, we (Innaa) were (Kunnaa) submitters (Mus'limiin) before it (Min Qab'li-hi)."

28:54 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when they hear nonsense, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace be upon you; we do not seek those who are ignorant."

And (Wa) when (Izaa) they hear (Samiu') nonsense (23:3) (Ellag'wa), they turn away from it (A'radu' Än'hu) and say (Qaalu'), "For us (Lanaa) are our deeds (A'maalu-naa), and for you (Lakum') are your deeds (A'maalu-hum'). Peace be upon you (Salaamun Älai'kum'); we do not (Laa) seek (Nab'tagii) those who are ignorant (El'Jaahiliin)."

28:56 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Indeed, you cannot guide whom you like, but GOD guides whomever HE wills. And HE is aware of the guided.

Indeed, you (s) (Innaka) cannot (Laa) guide (Tah'dii) whom (Man') you like (Ah'bab'ta), but (Walaakinna) GOD (Ellaha) guides (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau). And (Wa) HE (Huwa) is aware of (A'lamu Bi) the guided (El’Muh'tadiin). (2:272)

And they say, "If we follow the Guidance with you, we would be abducted from our land."Or have We not firmly established a safe sanctuary for them for which being collected yields of all things as sustenance from Us? But most of them do not know.

And (Wa) they say (Qaaluu'), "If (In) we follow (Nattabie) the Guidance (El'Hudaa) with you (61:9) (Maäka), we would be abducted (Nutakhattaf') from (Min') our land (Ar'di-naa)." Or have We not (Awalam') firmly established (Numakkin) a safe (Aaminan) sanctuary (Haraman) for them (Lahum') for which (ilai'hi) being collected (Yuj'baa) yields (Thamaraatu) of all (Kulli) things (Shai'in) as sustenance (Riz'qan) from Us (Min Ladunnaa)? But (Walaakinna) most of them (Ak'thara-hum') do not (Laa) know (Ya'lamuun).

28:58 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And how many a town have we annihilated who were insolent in its living, and these are their houses which have not been inhabited after them except a few. And We were the inheritors.

And (Wa) how many (Kam') a town (Qar'yati) have we annihilated (Ah'lak'naa) who were insolent (Batirat') in its living (Maeeshata-haa), and (Fa) these (Til'ka) are their houses (Masaakinu-hum') which have not (Lam') been inhabited (Tus'kan) after them (Min Ba'di-him') except (illa) a few (Qaliilan).

Whatever you have been given is for the enjoyment of the worldly life and its adornment, but what is with GOD is better and more lasting. Will you then not reason?

Whatever (Maa Min Shai'in) you have been given (Uutii-tum) is for (Fa) the enjoyment (Mataau) of the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati) and (Wa) its adornment (Ziinatu-haa), but (Wa) what (Maa) is with GOD (Endallahi) is better (Khai'run) and more lasting (Ab'qaa). Will you then not (Afalaa) reason (Ta'qiluun)?
