88 verses
So is one whom We have promised a good promise for which he will meet like one whom We made him enjoy the provision of the worldly life, then he will be among those in attendance, on the Day of Resurrection?
So is (Afa-) one whom (-man) We hve promised (Waäd'naa-hu) a good (Hasanan) promise (Wa'dan) for (Fa) which (Huwa) he will meet (Laaqii-hi) like one whom (Kaman) We made him enjoy (Matta'naa-hu) the provision (Mataa'ä) of the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati), then (Thumma) he (Huwa) will be among (Mina) those in attendance (the punishment) (El'Muh'doriin), on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati)?
And it is the day HE will summon them and say, "Where are ‘MY partners’ whom you used to claim?"1
And (Wa) it is the day (Yaw'ma) HE will summon them (Yunaadii-him') and (Fa) say (Yaquulu), "Where (Ai'na) are ‘MY partners’ (Shurakaa'i) whom (Ellaziina) you used to (Kuntum') claim (Taz'umuun)?" 1
Those upon whom the word has been imposed will say, "Our LORD, these are the ones we misled; we misled them as we were misled. We are innocent to YOU. They were not worshipping us."
Those (Ellaziina) upon whom (Älai'himu) the word (El'Qaw'lu) has been imposed (Haqqa) will say (Qaala), "Our LORD (Rabba-naa), these (Haaulaai) are the ones (Ellaziina) we misled (Ag'wai'naa); we misled them (Ag'wai'naa-hum') as (Kamaa) we were misled (Gawai'naa). We are innocent (Tabarra'naa) to YOU (ilai'ka). They were (Kaanuu') not (Maa) worshipping (Ya'buduun) us (Iyyaanaa)."
And it will be said, "Invoke your associates, "and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had been guided!
And (Wa) it will be said (Qiila), "Invoke (Ed'u') your associates (idols) (Shurakaa'a-kum')," and (Fa) they (the idolaters) will invoke them (Daäw'hum'); but (Fa) they will not (Lam') respond to them (Yas'tajiinu' Lahum'), and (Wa) they will see (Ra'awu') the punishment (El'Äzaaba). If only they (Law' Anna-hum') had been (Kaanu') guided (Yah'taduun)!
And it is the day HE will summon them and say, "What did you reply the messengers?"
And (Wa) it is the day (Yaw'ma) HE will summon them (Yunaadii-him') and (Fa) say (Yaquulu), "What (Maazaa) did you reply (Ajab'tumu) the messengers (El'Mur'saliin)?"
And the news will be obscured to them on that day, but they will not ask each other.
And (Fa) the news (El'Anbaa'u) will be obscured to them (Ämiyat' Älai'himu) on that day (Yaw'mai'zin), but (Fa) they will not (Laa) ask each other (Yatasaa'aluun).
And as for one who had repented, believed and acted righteous, thus he will possibly be among the successful.
And (Fa) as for (Ammaa) one who (Man) had repented (Taaba), believed (Aamana) and (Wa) acted (Ämila) righteous (Soalihan), thus (Fa) he will possibly (Äsaa An) be (Yakuuna) among (Mina) the successful (El'Muf'lihiin).
And your LORD creates whatever HE wills and chooses; the choice is not for them. Glory be to GOD, and exalted above what they associate.
And (Wa) your LORD (s) (Rabbu-ka) creates (Yukh'luqu) whatever (Maa) HE wills (Yashaau) and chooses (Yakh'taaru); the choice (El'Khiyaratu) is (Kaana) not (Maa) for them (Lahumu). Glory be to GOD (Sub'haana-llahi), and (Wa) exalted (Ta'äälaa) above what (Ämmaa) they associate (Yush'rikuun).
And your LORD knows what their bosoms conceal and what they declare.
And (Wa) your LORD (s) (Rabbu-ka) knows (Ya'lamu) what (Maa) their bosoms (Suduuru-hum') conceal (Tukinnu) and what (Wamaa) they declare (Yu'linuun).
And HE is the GOD; there is no god except HIM. To HIM belongs the praise in the first life and the hereafter. And to HIM belongs the judgement, and to HIM you will be returned.
And (Wa) HE (Huwa) is the GOD (Ellahu); there is no (Laa) god (ilaaha) except (illa) HIM (Huwa). To HIM belongs (Lahu) the praise (1:2) (El'Ham'du) in (Fii) the first life (El'Uulaa) and the hereafter (Wal' Aakhirati). And (Wa) to HIM belongs (Lahu) the judgement (El'Huk'mu), and (Wa) to HIM (ilai'hi) you will be returned (Tur'ja'uun).
Say:"Have you considered; if GOD should make the night perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than the GOD could bring you light? Will you then not listen?"
Say (Qul'): "Have you (p) considered (Ara'ai'tum'); if (In) GOD (Ellahu) should make (Jaäla) the night (Ellai'la) perpetual (Sar'madan) for you (Älai'kumu) until (ilaa) the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mil' Qiyaamati), which (Man') god (ilaahun) other than the GOD (Ch 112) (Gai'rullahi) could bring you (Ya'tii-kum Bi) light (Diyaa'in)? Will you then not (Afalaa) listen (Tas'mauun)?"
Say:"Have you considered; if GOD should make the day perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than the GOD could bring you night in which you may rest? Will you then not see?"
Say (Qul'): "Have you considered (Ara'ai'tum'); if (In) GOD (Ellahu) should make (Jaäla) the day (En'Nahaara) perpetual (Sar'madan) for you (Älai'kumu) until (ilaa) the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mil' Qiyaamati), which (Man') god (ilaahun) other than the GOD (Gai'rullahi) could bring you (Ya'tii-kum Bi) night (Lai'lin) in which (Fiihi) you may rest (Tas'kunuuna)? Will you then not (Afalaa) see (Tub'siruun)?"
And out of HIS mercy HE made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and to seek for HIS favour and that you may be thankful.
And (Wa) out of (Min) HIS mercy (Rah'mati-hi) HE made (Jaäla) for you (Lakumu) the night (Ellai'la) and the day (En'Nahaara) that (Li) you may rest (Tas'kunu') therein (Fiihi) and to (Wali) seek (Tab'tagu') for (Min) HIS favour (Fad'li-hi) and (Wa) that you (Laällakum') may be thankful (Tash'kuruun).
And it is the day HE will summon them and say, "Where are 'MY partners' whom you used to claim?"2
And (Wa) it is the day (Yaw'ma) HE will summon them (Yunaadii-him) and (Fa) say (Yaquulu), "Where (Ai'na) are 'MY partners' (Shurakaai) whom (Ellaziina) you used to (Kuntum') claim (Taz'umuun)?" 2
And We will extract a witness from every nation, then We will say, "Bring your proof, "and they will know that the truth belonged to GOD, and what they used to fabricate will divert from them.
And (Wa) We will extract (Naza'naa) a witness (Shahiidan) from (Min) every (Kulli) nation (Ummatin), then (Fa) We will say (Qul'naa), "Bring (Haatu') your proof (Bur'haana-kum')," and (Fa) they will know (Älimuu') that (Anna) the truth (El'Haqqa) belonged to GOD (Lillahi), and (Wa) what (Maa) they used to (Kaanu') fabricate (Yaf'taruun) will divert (Dolla) from them (Än'hum).
Indeed, Croesus was from the people of Moses, and he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would have been burdensome for a band of those of strength; when he was told, "Do not exult; indeed, GOD does not like the exultant.
Indeed (Inna), Croesus (Qaaruuna) was (Kaana) from (Mina) the people (Qaw'mi) of Moses (Muusaa), and (Fa) he tyrannized them (Bagaa Älai'him'). And (Wa) We gave him (Aatai'naa-hu) of (Mina) treasures (El'Kunuuzi) whose keys (Mafaatiha-hu) would have been (La) burdensome (Tanuu'u) for (Bi) a band (El'Us'bati) of those (U'lii) of strength (El'Quwwati); when (Iz') he was told (Qaala La-hu), "Do not (Laa) exult (Taf'rah'); indeed, GOD (Innallaha) does not (Laa) like (Yuhibbu) the exultant (El'Farihiin).
"And seek the Home of the hereafter through what GOD has given you, but do not forget your share of the world. And be good as GOD has been good to you. And do not seek corruption on earth. Indeed, GOD does not like the corrupters."
"And (Wa) seek (Eb'Tagi) the Home (Ed'Daara) of the hereafter (El'Aakhirata) through what (Fiimaa) GOD (Ellahu) has given you (Aataa-ka), but (Wa) do not (Laa) forget (Tansa) your share (Nasiiba-ka) of (Mina) the world (Ed'Dun'ya). And (Wa) be good (Ah'sin) as (Kamaa) GOD (Ellahu) has been good (Ah'sana) to you (ilai'ka). And do not (Walaa) seek (Tab'gi) corruption (El'Fasaada) on earth (Fiil' Ar'di). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) does not (Laa) like (Yuhibbu) the corrupters (El'Muf'sidiin)."
He said, "I was only given such because of the knowledge I have."Or did he not know that GOD had annihilated before him some of the generations who were stronger than him in strength and greater in accumulation? But the criminals will not be asked about their sins.
He (Croesus) said (Qaala), "I was only (Innamaa) given such (Uutiitu-hu) because of (Älaa) the knowledge (il'min) I have (Endii)." Or did he not (Awalam') know (Ya'lam') that GOD (Annallaha) had (Qad') annihilated (Ah'laka) before him (Min Qab'li-hi) some of (Mina) the generations (El'Quruuni) who (Man') were (Huwa) stronger (Ashaddu) than him (Min'hu) in strength (Quwwatan) and (Wa) greater (Ak'tharu) in accumulation (Jam'ään)? But (Wa) the criminals (El'Muj'rimuun) will not (Laa) be asked (Yus'alu) about (Än) their sins (Zunuubi-himu).
So he came out to his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "O if only we had the like of what has been given to Croesus. Indeed, he possesses great fortune."
So (Fa) he (Croesus) came out (Kharaja) to (Älaa) his people (Qaw'mi-hi) in (Fii) his adornment (Ziinati-hi). Those who (Ellaziina) desired (Yuriidu) the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaata) said (Qaala), "O (Yaa) if only (Lai'ta) we had (Lanaa) the like (Mith'la) of what (Maa) has been given (Uutiya) to Croesus (Qaaruunu). Indeed, he (Innahu) possesses (Lazuu) great (Äziim) fortune (Hazzin)."
But those who were given the knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of GOD is better for whoever believes and acts righteous. And none attains it except those who are patient.”
But (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) were given (Uutu') the knowledge (El' il'ma) said (Qaala), "Woe to you (Wai'la-kum')! The reward of GOD (Thawaabu-llahi) is better (Khai'run) for whoever (Liman') believes (Aamana) and (Wa) acts (Ämila) righteous (Soalihan). And (Wa) none (Laa) attains it (Yulaqqaa-haa) except (illa) those who are patient (Es'Soabiruun).”
