And when he and those who believed with him went beyond it, they said, "We have no strength today against Goliath and his soldiers."Those who presumed that they would meet GOD said, "How many a small party has defeated a large party, by the permission of GOD. And GOD is with those who are patient."

And (Fa) when (Lammaa) Saul (Toaluutu) went forth (Fasala) with the soldiers (Bil' Junuudi) he said (Qaala), "Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) will test you (Mub'talii-kum) with (Bi) a river (Naharin). And (Fa) whoever (Man) drinks (Shariba) from it (Min'hu), then (Fa) he is not (Lai'sa) with me (Minni), and (Wa) whoever (Man) does not (Lam') taste it (Yat'äm'hu), then (Fa) indeed, he (Innahu) is with me (Minnii), except (illa) one who (Mani) scoops (Eg'tarafa) by scooping (Gur'fata) with (Bi) his hand (Yadi-hi)."

So they defeated them by the permission of GOD, and David killed Goliath, and GOD gave him sovereignty and the Wisdom and taught him from what HE willed. And if not for GOD propelling people against each other, the earth would have been corrupted, but GOD possesses favour for the worlds.

These messengers; We favoured some of them over others. Among them is one to whom GOD spoke, and HE raised some of them in degrees. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. And if GOD had willed, those after them would not have fought each other after what had come to them of proofs, but they differed, and among them were those who believed, and among them were those who disbelieved. And if GOD had willed, they would not have fought each other, but GOD does what HE intends.

These (Til'ka) messengers (Er'Rusulu); We favoured (Faddol'naa) some of them (Ba'do-hum) over (Älaa) others (Ba'din). Among them (Min'hum) is one to whom (Man) GOD spoke (Kallama-llahu), and (Wa) HE raised (Rafaä) some of them (Ba'dohum) in degrees (Darajaat'). 2:254 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

O you who have believed, disburse from what We have provided for you before a day comes wherein there is no transaction 1 nor friendship 2 nor intercession 3. As for the disbelievers, they are the transgressors.

O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu'), disburse (Anfiqu') from what (Mimmaa) We have provided for you (Razaq'naa-kum) before (Min Qab'li) a day (Ya'tiya) comes (Ya'tiya) wherein (Fiihi) there is no (Laa) transaction 1 (Bai'un) nor (Walaa) friendship 2 (Khullatun) nor intercession 3 (Shafaa'ätun).

GOD; there is no god except HIM, the LIVING, the ETERNAL; neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes HIM. To HIM belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is there that can intercede in front of HIM if not by HIS permission? HE knows what is before them and what is behind them. And none encompasses anything from HIS knowledge except for what HE wills. And HIS throne encompasses the heavens and the earth, and guarding them does not cause HIM tiredness. For HE is the SUPREME, the GREAT.

GOD (Ellahu); there is no god (Laa ilaaha) except (illa) HIM (Huwa), the LIVING (El' Hayyu), the ETERNAL (El' Qayyuumu); neither (Laa) drowsiness (Sinatun) nor (Walaa) sleep (Naw'mun) overtakes HIM (Ta'khuzu-hu).

And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Hearing (Samiiun) and Omniscient (Äliim).

2:257 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

GOD is the ally of those who believe; HE brings them out of darknesses into the light. As for those who have disbelieved, their allies are the idols; they bring them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will be therein eternally.

GOD (Ellahu) is the ally (Waliyyu) of those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'); HE brings them (Yukh'riju-hum) out of (Mina) darknesses (Ez'Zulumaati) into (ilaa) the light (En'Nuuri). Those (U'laaika) are the companions (As'haabu) of the Fire (En'Naari); they (Hum') will be therein (Fiihaa) eternally (Khaaliduun).

Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham concerning his LORD because GOD had given him sovereignty? When Abraham said, "My LORD is the One who gives life and causes death."He said, "I give life and cause death."Abraham said, "Then indeed, GOD brings the sun from the east, so bring it from the west."And the one who disbelieved was astonished, for GOD does not guide the transgressing people.

Have you not (Lam') considered (Tara ilaa) the one who (Ellazii) argued with (Haajja) Abraham (Ib'raahiima) concerning (Fii) his LORD (Rabbi-hi) because (An') GOD (Ellahu) had given him (Aataa-hu) sovereignty (El'Mul'ka)? When (Iz') Abraham (Ib'raahiimu) said (Qaala), "My LORD (Rabbiya) is the One who (Ellazii) gives life (Yuh'yii) and (Wa) causes death (Yumiitu)." He (the king) said (Qaala), "I (Ana') give life (Uh'yii) and cause death (Umiitu)." Abraham (Ib'raahiimu) said (Qaala), "Then (Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) brings (Ya'tii) the sun (Es'Sham'si) from (Mina) the east (El'Mash'riqi), so bring it (Fa'ti Bi-haa) from (Mina) the west (El'Mag'ribi)." And (Fa) the one who (Ellazii) disbelieved (Kafara) was astonished (Buhita), for (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) does not (Laa) guide (Yah'dii) the transgressing (Ez'Zoalimiin) people (El'Qaw'ma).

Or like the one who passed through a town while it had emptied upon its trellises. He said, "How will GOD revive this after its lifelessness?"So GOD caused him to die for a hundred years, then HE resurrected him. HE said, "How long have you lingered? He said, "I have lingered for a day or part of a day."HE said, "In fact, you have lingered for a hundred years, but look at your food and your drink; it has not stale, and look at your donkey so that We may make you a sign for the people. So look at the bones how We raise them and cover them with flesh."And after it became clear to him, he said, "I know that GOD is capable of all things."

Or (Aw') like (Ka) the one who (Ellazii) passed through (Marra Älaa) a town (Qar'yatin) while (Wa) it (Hiya) had emptied (Khaaqiyatun) upon (Älaa) its trellises (Uruushi-haa). He (the man) said (Qaala), "How (Annaa) will GOD (Ellahu) revive (Yuh'yii) this (Haazihi) after (Ba'da) its lifelessness (Maw'ti-ha)?" So (Fa) GOD (Ellahu) caused him to die (Amaata-hu) for a hundred (Mi'ata) years (Äämin), then (Thumma) HE resurrected him (Baätha-hu). HE (God) said (Qaala), "How long (Kam') have you lingered (Labith'ta)? He (the man) said (Qaala), "I have lingered (Labith'tu) for a day (Yaw'man) or (Aw') part (Ba'da) of a day (Yaw'min)." HE (God) said (Qaala), "In fact (Bal), you have lingered (Labith'ta) for a hundred (Mi'ata) years (Äämin), but (Fa) look (Enzur') at (ilaa) your food (Toäämi-ka) and (Wa) your drink (Sharaabi-ka); it has not (Lam') stale (Yatasannah'), and (Wa) look at (Enzur' ilaa) your donkey (Himaari-ka) so (Wa) that (Li) We may make you (s) (Naj'äla-ka) a sign (miracle) (Aayatan) for the people (Lin' Naasi). So (Wa) look at (Enzur' ilaa) the bones (El'Ezoami) how (Kai'fa) We raise them (Nunshizu-haa) and (Thumma) cover them with (Nak'suu-ha) flesh (Lah'man)." And (Fa) after (Lammaa) it became clear (Tabayyana) to him (Lahu), he (the man) said (Qaala), "I know (A'lamu) that GOD (Annallaha) is capable of (Qadiir Älaa) all (Kulli) things (Shai'in)."

And when Abraham said, "LORD, show me how YOU revive the dead."HE said, "Or do you not believe? He said, "Certainly, but it is to reassure my heart."HE said, "Then take four from birds and then grate them before you, then place each portion of them on a hill; and then call them, they will come to you in pursuit. And know that GOD is Almighty and Wise."

And (Wa) when (Iz') Abraham (Ib'raahiimu) said (Qaala), "LORD (Rabbi), show me (Arinii) how (Kai'fa) YOU revive (Tuh'yi) the dead (El'Maw'taa)." HE (God) said (Qaala), "Or do you not (Awalam') believe (Tu'min)? He (Abraham) said (Qaala), "Certainly (Balaa), but (Walaakin) it is to (Li) reassure (Yat'ma'inna) my heart (Qal'bii)." HE (God) said (Qaala), "Then (Fa) take (Khuz') four (Ar'baätan) from (Mina) birds (Ettoi'ri) and then (Fa) grate them (Sur'hunna) before you (s) (ilai'ka), then (Thumma) place (Ej'äl') each (Kulli) portion (Juz'an) of them (Min'hunna) on (Älaa) a hill (Jabalin); and then (Thumma) call them (Ed'u-hunna), they will come to you (Ya'tiinaka) in pursuit (Sa'yan). And (Wa) know (E'lam') that GOD (Annallaha) is Almighty (Äziizun) and Wise (Hakiim)."
