286 verses

2:261 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

The example of those who disburse their wealth in the way of GOD is like the example of a grain which germinates seven spikes; in every spike is a hundred grains. And GOD multiplies for whomever HE wills. For GOD is Encompassing and Omniscient.

The example (Mathalu) of those who (Ellaziina) disburse (Yunfiquuna) their wealth (Am'waala-hum') in (Fii) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi) is like (Ka) the example (Mathali) of a grain (Habbatin) which germinates (Anbatat') seven (Sab'ä) spikes (Banaabila); in (Fii) every (Kulli) spike (Sunbulatin) is a hundred (Mi'atu) grains (Habbatin). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) multiplies (Yudoaefu) for whomever (Liman) HE wills (Yashaau). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Encompassing (Waasiun) and Omniscient (Äliim).

2:262 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Those who disburse their wealth in the way of GOD and then do not follow what they have disbursed to remind of a favour or to harass, will have their reward at their LORD, and there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

Those who (Ellaziina) disburse (Yunfiquuna) their wealth (Am'waala-hum') in (Fii) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi) and then (Thumma) do not (Laa) follow (Yut'biuuna) what (Maa) they have disbursed (Anfaqu') to remind of a favour (Mannan) or (Walaa) to harass (Azan), will have (Lahum') their reward (Aj'ru-hum') at (Enda) their LORD (Rabbi-him'), and (Wa) there will be no (Laa) fear (Khaw'fun) upon them (Älai'him'), nor (Walaa) will they (Hum') grieve (Yah'zanuun).

2:263 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Kind speech and forgiveness are better than alms which are followed by offence. And GOD is Rich and Clement.

Kind (Ma'ruufun) speech (Qaw'lun) and (Wa) forgiveness (Mag'firatun) are better (Khai'run) than (Min) alms (Sodaqatin) which are followed by (Yat'bau-haa) offence (Azaan). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Rich (Ganiyyun) and Clement (Haliim).

2:264 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

O you who believe, do not invalidate your charities with reminding of favour and offence as one who disburses his wealth to show the people while he does not believe in GOD and the Last Day. So his example is like the example of a big rock upon which is dust and then a downpour hits it, then it leaves it bare. They are not capable of anything from what they have earned. For GOD does not guide the disbelieving people.

O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), do not (Laa) invalidate (Tub'tilu') your charities (Sodaqaati-kum) with (Bi) reminding of favour (El'Manni) and offence (Wal' Azaa) as (Ka) one who (Ellazii) disburses (Yunfiqu) his wealth (Maala-hu) to show (Riaa'a) the people (En'Naasi) while (Wa) he does not (Laa) believe (Yu'minu) in GOD (Billahi) and (Wa) the Last Day (El'Yaw'mil' Aakhiri). So (Fa) his example (Mathalu-hu) is like (Ka) the example (Mathali) of a big rock (Sof'waanin) upon which (Älai'hi) is dust (Turaabun) and then (Fa) a downpour (Waabilun) hits it (Asoaba-hu), then (Fa) it leaves it (Taraka-hu) bare (Sol'dan). They are not (Laa) capable of (Yaq'diruuna Älaa) anything (Shai'in) from what (Mimmaa) they have earned (Kasabu'). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) does not (Laa) guide (Yah'dii) the disbelieving (El'Kaafiriin) people (El'Qaw'ma).

2:265 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And the example of those who disburse their wealth seeking the approval of GOD and reaffirming for their souls is like the example of a garden on a hill which is hit by a downpour, so its fruit occurs in double. And if a downpour does not hit it, then a drizzle. And GOD is cognizant of what you do.

And (Wa) the example (Mathalu) of those who (Ellaziina) disburse (Yunfiquuna) their wealth (Am'waala-humu) seeking (Eb'tigaa'a) the approval of GOD (Mar'doati-llahi) and (Wa) reaffirming (Tath'biitan) for (Min') their souls (Anfusi-him') is like (Ka) the example (Mathali) of a garden (Jannati) on (Bi) a hill (Rab'watin) which is hit by (Asoaba-ha) a downpour (Waabilun), so (Fa) its fruit (Ukula-ha) occurs (Aatat') in double (Di'fai'ni). And (Fa) if (In) a downpour (Waabilun) does not (Lam') hit it (Yusib'ha), then (Fa) a drizzle (Tollun). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is cognizant (Basiir) of what (Bimaa) you do (Ta'maluuna).

2:266 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Does any of you wish to have a garden of date palms and grapes beneath which rivers flow wherein he has of every fruit, then old age hits him while he has weak offspring, then it gets hit by a tornado wherein is fire and it sets on fire? GOD thus clarify the verses to you perhaps you will ponder.

Does (A-) any of you (Ahadu-kum') wish (-yawaddu) to (An) have (Takuuna Lahu) a garden (Jannatun) of (Min) date palms (Nakhiilin) and (Wa) grapes (A'naabin) beneath which (Min Tah'ti-ha) rivers (El'An'haaru) flow (Taj'rii) wherein (Fiiha) he has (Lahu) of (Min) every (Kulli) fruit (Etthamaraati), then (Fa) old age (EL'Kibaru) hits him (Asoaba-hu) while (Wa) he has (Lahu) weak (Duäfaau) offspring (Zurriyyatun), then (Fa) it gets hit by (Asoaba-haa) a tornado (I'soarun) wherein (Fiihi) is fire (Naarun) and (Fa) it sets on fire (E'taraqat')? GOD (Ellahu) thus (Kazaalika) clarify (Yubayyinu) the verses (El'Aayaati) to you (Lakumu) perhaps you (Laällakum') will ponder (Tatafakkaruun).

2:267 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

O you who have believed, disburse from the good things which you have earned and from what We have brought forth for you from the earth; but do not aim at the bad therefrom to disburse while you would not accept it unless you are obscured about it. And know that GOD is Rich and Praiseworthy.

O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu'), disburse (Anfiqu') from (Min) the good things (Toyyibaati) which (Maa) you have earned (Kasab'tum') and (Wa) from what (Mimmaa) We have brought forth (Akh'raj'naa) for you (Lakum) from (Mina) the earth (El'Ar'di); but (Wa) do not (Laa) aim at (Tayammamu') the bad (El'Khabiitha) therefrom (Min'hu) to disburse (3:92) (Tunfiquuna) while (Wa) you would not (Las'tum Bi) accept it (Aakhizii-hi) unless (illaa An) you are obscured (Tug'midu') about it (Fiihi). And (Wa) know (E'lamuu') that GOD (Annallaha) is Rich (Ganiyyun) and Praiseworthy (Hamiid).

2:268 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

The devil promises you poverty and commands you to obscenity, while GOD promises you forgiveness from HIM and favour. And GOD is Encompassing and Omniscient.

The devil (Es'Shai'toanu) promises you (Yaedu-kumu) poverty (El'Faq'ra) and (Wa) commands you (Ya'muru-kum) to obscenity (Bil' Fah'shaai), while (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) promises you (Yaedu-kum) forgiveness (Mag'firatan) from HIM (Min'hu) and favour (Fad'lan). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Encompassing (Waasiun) and Omniscient (Äliim).

2:269 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

HE gives Wisdom to whomever HE wills, and whoever is given the Wisdom, then he has been given much good; but none will remember except those of intelligence.

HE (God) gives (Yu'tii) Wisdom (31:12) (El'Hik'mata) to whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau), and (Wa) whoever (Man) is given (Yu'ta) the Wisdom (El'Hik'mata), then (Fa) he has (Qad') been given (Uutiya) much (Khathiiran) good (Khai'ran); but (Wa) none (Maa) will remember (Yazzakkaru) except (illaa) those (U'lu') of intelligence (El'Al'baab).

2:270 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And whatever you disburse of disbursement or make a vow of vows, then indeed, GOD knows it. And the transgressors will have no helpers.

And (Wa) whatever (Maa) you disburse (Anfaq'tum) of (Min) disbursement (Nafaqatin) or (Aw') make a vow (Nazar'tum) of (Min) vows (Naz'rin), then (Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) knows it (Ya'lamu-hu). And (Wa) the transgressors will have (Liz' Zoalimiina) no (Maa Min') helpers (Ansoar).

2:271 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

If you reveal charities, then they are a blessing; but if you hide them and give them to the needy, then it is better for you, and HE will atone your bad deeds for you. For GOD is conversant with what you do.

If (In) you reveal (Tub'du') charities (Es'Sodaqaati), then (Fa) they (Hiya) are a blessing (Niemmaa); but (Wa) if (In) you hide them (Tukh'fuu-haa) and (Wa) give them to (Tu'tuu-haa) the needy (El'Fuqaraa'a), then (Fa) it (Huwa) is better (Khai'run) for you (Lakum'), and (Wa) HE (God) will atone (Yukaffiru) your bad deeds (Sayyi'aati-kum') for you (Änkum). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is conversant (Khabiir) with what (Bimaa) you do (Ta'maluuna).

2:272 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Their guidance is not upon you, but GOD guides whomever HE wills. And whatever you disburse of good, then it is for your souls, and do not disburse except seeking the countenance of GOD. And whatever you disburse of good will be repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.

Their guidance (Hudaa-hum') is not (Lai'sa) upon you (s) (Älai'ka), but (Walaakinna) GOD (Ellaha) guides (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau). And (Wa) whatever (Maa) you disburse (Tunfiqu') of (Min') good (Khai'rin), then (Fa) it is for (Li) your souls (Anfusi-kum'), and (Wa) do not (Maa) disburse (Tunfiquuna) except (illa) seeking (Eb'tigaa'a) the countenance of GOD (30:38-39) (Waj'hi-llahi). And (Wa) whatever (Maa) you disburse (Tunfiqu') of (Min') good (Khai'rin) will be repaid (Yuwaffa) to you (ilai'kum'), and (Wa) you (Antum') will not (Laa) be wronged (Tuz'lamuun).

2:273 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

For the needy who have been restricted in the way of GOD, who are unable to travel through the land. An ignorant person may think they are rich because of their simpleness, you will recognize them by their mark, they do not ask people pressingly. And whatever you disburse of good, then indeed, GOD is aware of it.

For the needy (Lil' Fuqaraai) who (Ellaziina) have been restricted (Uh'siru') in (Fii) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi), who are unable to (Laa Yas'tatiiuuna) travel (Dor'ban) through the land (Fiil Ar'di). An ignorant person (El'Jaahilu) may think they (Yah'sabu-humu) are rich (Ag'niyaa'a) because of (Mina) their simpleness (Ettaäffufi), you will recognize them (Ta'rifu-hum) by (Bi) their mark (Siimaa-hum), they do not (Laa) ask (Yas'aluuna) people (En'Naasa) pressingly (il'haafan). And (Wa) whatever (Maa) you disburse (Tunfiqu') of (Min') good (Khai'rin), then (Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is aware (Äliim) of it (Bihi).

2:274 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Those who disburse their wealth by night and day; secretly and publicly, thus they will have their reward at their LORD. And there will be no fear upon them nor will they grieve.

Those who (Ellaziina) disburse (Yunfiquuna) their wealth (Am'waala-hum) by night (Billai'li) and day (Wan' Nahaari); secretly (Sirran) and publicly (Älaaniyatan), thus (Fa) they will have (Lahum') their reward (Aj'ru-hum') at (Enda) their LORD (Rabbi-him'). And (Wa) there will be no (Laa) fear (Khaw'fun) upon them (Älai'him') nor (Walaa) will they (Hum') grieve (Yah'zanuun).

2:275 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Those who consume usury are only standing like one who stands being beaten by the devil with madness. That is because they say, "Transaction is only like usury."But GOD has made transaction lawful and has outlawed usury. So whoever a preachment from his LORD comes to him and then refrains, thus he may have what has preceded, and his affair belongs to GOD. And whoever goes back, then those are the companions of the Fire; they will be therein eternally.

Those who (Ellaziina) consume (Ya'kuluuna) usury (Er'Ribaa') are only (Laa illa) standing (Yaquumuuna) like (Kamaa) one who (Ellazii) stands (Yaquumu) being beaten by (Yatakhabbatu-hu) the devil (Es'Shai'toanu) with (Mina) madness (El'Massi). That (Zaalika) is because they (Bi'anna-hum') say (Qaaluu'), "Transaction (El'Bai'u) is only (Innamaa) like (Mith'lu) usury (Er'Ribaa')." But (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) has made transaction (El'Bai'ä) lawful (-Ahalla) and (Wa) has outlawed (Harrama) usury (Er'Ribaa'). So (Fa) whoever (Man) a preachment (Maw'ezotun) from (Min) his LORD (Rabbi-hi) comes to him (Jaa'a-hu) and then (Fa) refrains (Entahaa), thus (Fa) he may have (Lahu) what (Maa) has preceded (Salafa), and (Wa) his affair (Am'ru-hu) belongs to GOD (ilaallahi). And (Wa) whoever (Man') goes back (Ääda), then (Fa) those (U'laaika) are the companions (As'haabu) of the Fire (En'Naari); they (Hum') will be therein (Fiiha) eternally (Khaaliduun).

2:276 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

GOD effaces usury and raises charities. And GOD does not like every sinful disbeliever.

GOD (Ellahu) effaces (Yam'haqu) usury (Er'Ribaa') and (Wa) raises (Yur'bii) charities (Es'Sodaqaati). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) does not (Laa) like (Yuhibbu) every (Kulla) sinful (Athiim) disbeliever (Kaffaarin).

2:277 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Indeed, those who believe 1 and do good deeds 2 and establish the Litany 3 and give the Charity 4 will have their reward at their LORD, and there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) believe 1 (Aamanu') and (Wa) do (Ämilu') good deeds 2 (Es'Soalihaati) and (Wa) establish (Aqaamu') the Litany 3 (Es'Solaata) and (Wa) give (Aatawu') the Charity 4 (Ez'Zakaata) will have (Lahum') their reward (Aj'ru-hum') at (Enda) their LORD (Rabbi-him'), and (Wa) there will be no (Laa) fear (Khaw'fun) upon them (Älai'him'), nor (Walaa) will they (Hum) grieve (Yah'zanuun).

2:278 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

O you who believe, beware of GOD and leave what remains of usury if you should be believers.

O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), beware of GOD (Ettaqu'llaha) and (Wa) leave (Zaru') what (Maa) remains (Baqiya) of (Mina) usury (4:161) (Er'Ribaa') if (In) you should be (Kuntum) believers (Mu'miniin).

2:279 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And if you do not, then be informed of a war from GOD and His messenger; but if you repent, then you may have your principal money, you do no wrong, nor are you wronged.

And (Fa) if (In) you do (Taf'älu') not (Lam'), then be informed of (Fa'zanu' Bi) a war (Har'bin) from GOD (Minallahi) and (Wa) His messenger (Rasuuli-hi); but (Wa) if (In) you repent (Tub'tum'), then (Fa) you may have (Lakum') your (-kum') principal (Ru'uusu) money (Am'waali-), you do no (Laa) wrong (Taz'limuuna), nor (Walaa) are you wronged (Tuz'lamuun).

2:280 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And if one is with hardship, then respite until there is ease; but to give as alms is better for you, if you should know.

And (Wa) if (In) one is (Kaana) with (Zuu) hardship (Us'ratin), then (Fa) respite (Naziratun) until (ilaa) there is ease (Mai'saratin); but (Wa) to (An) give as alms (Tasoddaqu') is better (Khai'run) for you (Lakum'), if (In) you should (Kuntum') know (Ta'lamuun).
