2:61 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when you said, "O Moses, we will never tolerate one food, so invoke your LORD for us, to bring forth for us from what is grown of the earth of its legumes and its cucumbers and its garlics and its lentils and its onions."He said, "Would you exchange what is least with what is better? Descend to Egypt, then indeed, you will have what you asked for."Thus humiliation covered them and poverty and they incurred the wrath of GOD. That was because they were disbelieving in the signs of GOD and killing the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were trespassing.

And (Wa) when (Iz') you said (Qul'tum'), "O (Yaa) Moses (Muusaa), we will never (Lan) tolerate (Nas'bira Älaa) one (Waahidin) food (To'äämin), so (Fa) invoke (Ed'u) your LORD (Rabba-ka) for us (Lanaa), to bring forth (Yukh'rij') for us (Lanaa) from what (Mimmaa) is grown (Tunbitu) of the earth (El'Ar'du) of (Min) its legumes (Baq'li-haa) and (Wa) its cucumbers (Qitthaa'i-haa) and its garlics (Fuumi-haa) and its lentils (Ädasi-haa) and its onions (Basoli-haa)." He (Moses) said (Qaala), "Would you exchange (A'tas'tab'diluuna) what (Ellazii) is (Huwa) least (Ad'naa) with (Bi) what (Ellazii) is (Huwa) better (Khai'run)? Descend (Eh'bitu') to Egypt (Mis'ran), then (Fa) indeed (Inna), you will have (Lakum) what (Maa) you asked for (Sa'al'tum')." Thus (Wa) humiliation (Ez'Zillatu) covered them (Duribat' Älai'himu) and poverty (Wal' Mas'kanatu) and (Wa) they incurred (Baa'uu Bi) the wrath (Gadabin) of GOD (Minallahi). That (Zaalika) was because they (Bi'anna-hum') were (Kaanu') disbelieving (Yak'furuuna) in (Bi) the signs of GOD (Aayaati-llahi) and (Wa) killing (Yaq'tuluuna) the prophets (En'Nabiyyiina) without (Bi-Gairi) right (El'Haqqi). That (Zaalika) was because (Bimaa) they disobeyed (Äsow') and (Wa) were (Kaanu') trespassing (Ta'taduun).

2:62 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Indeed, those who have believed and those who are Jewish, the Christians as well as the Sabeans, who believe in GOD and the Last Day and act righteous, thus they will have their reward at their LORD and there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanu') and (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) are Jewish (Haadu'), the Christians (En'Nasoaraa) as well as (Wa) the Sabeans (Es'Soabi'iina), who (Man') believe (Aamana) in GOD (Billahi) and the Last Day (Wal' Yaw'mil' Aakhiri) and act (Ämila) righteous (Soalihan), thus (Fa) they will have (Lahum) their reward (Aj'ru-hum) at (Enda) their LORD (Rabbi-him’) and (Wa) there will be no (Laa) fear (Khaw'fun) upon them (Älai'him), nor (Walaa) will they grieve (Yah'zanuun).

2:63 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when We took your covenant and raised the mount above you, “Take what We have given you with strength and remember what is therein so that you may become pious."

And (Wa) when (Iz') We took (Akhaz'naa) your covenant (Miithaaqa-kum') and (Wa) raised (Rafa'naa) the mount (Ettuura) above you (Faw'qakumu), “Take (Khuzu') what (Maa) We have given you (Aatai'taa-kum) with (Bi) strength (Quwwatin) and (Wa) remember (Ez'kuru') what (Maa) is therein (Fiihi) so that you (Laällakum') may become pious (Tattaquun)."

2:64 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Then you turned away after that. And if not for the favour of GOD upon you and HIS mercy, you would have been among the losers.

Then (Thumma) you turned away (Tawallai'tum) after (Min Ba'di) that (Zaalika). And (Fa) if not for (Law' Laa) the favour of GOD (Fad'lu-llahi) upon you (Älai'kum') and (Wa) HIS mercy (Rah'matu-hu), you would have (La) been (Kuntum) among (Mina) the losers (El'Khaasiriin).

2:65 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And you certainly know about those who trespassed among you on the Sabbath, and We said to them, "Be despicable apes."

And (Wa) you certainly (Laqad') know about (-Älim'tumu) those who (Ellaziina) trespassed (E'tadaw') among you (Minkum') on (Fii) the Sabbath (16:124) (Es'Sab'ti), and (Fa) We said (Qul'naa) to them (Lahum'), "Be (Kuunu') despicable (Khaasi'iin) apes (Qiradatan)."

2:66 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

So We made it an exemplary punishment for those before it and those after it, and a preachment for the pious.

So (Fa) We made it (Jaäl'naa-haa) an exemplary punishment (Nakaalan) for those (Limaa) before it (Bai'na Yadi'haa) and those (Wamaa) after it (Khal'fahaa), and (Wa) a preachment (Maw'ezotan) for the pious (Lil' Muttaqiin).

2:67 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, GOD commands you to slaughter a cow*."They said, "Have you taken us as a joke?"He said, "I seek refuge with GOD that I should be of the ignorant."

And (Wa) when (Iz') Moses (Muusaa) said (Qaala) to (Li) his people (Qaw'mi-hi), "Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) commands you (Ya'muru-kum') to (An) slaughter (Taz'bahu') a cow (Baqaratan)*." They said (Qaaluu'), "Have you taken us (Atattakhizu-naa) as a joke (Huzuwan)?" He (Moses) said (Qaala), "I seek refuge (Auuzu) with GOD (Billahi) that (An') I should be (Akuuna) of (Mina) the ignorant (El'Jaahiliin)."

2:68 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

They said, "Invoke your LORD for us, to clarify to us what it is."He said, "Indeed, HE says that, 'It is a cow which is neither old nor virgin; in between middle-aged.' So do what you are commanded."

They said (Qaalu'), "Invoke (Ed'u) your LORD (Rabba-ka) for us (Lanaa), to clarify (Yubayyin) to us (Lanaa) what (Maa) it is (Hiya)." He (Moses) said (Qaala), "Indeed, HE (Innahu) says (Yaquulu) that, 'It (Innahaa) is a cow (Baqaratun) which is neither (Laa) old (Faaridun) nor (Walaa) virgin (Bik'run); in between (Bai'na Zaalika) middle-aged (Äwaanu).' So (Fa) do (Ef'älu') what (Maa) you are commanded (Tu'maruun)."

2:69 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

They said, "Invoke your LORD for us, to clarify to us what her colour is."He said, "Indeed, HE says that, 'It is a yellow cow, which is bright in colour; delighting the observers.'"

They said (Qaalu'), "Invoke (Ed'u) your LORD (Rabba-ka) for us (Lanaa), to clarify (Yubayyin) to us (Lanaa) what (Maa) her colour (Law'nu-haa) is." He (Moses) said (Qaala), "Indeed, HE (Innahu) says (Yaquulu) that, 'It (Innahaa) is a yellow (Sof'raau) cow (Baqaratun), which (-haa) is bright (Faaqi'un) in colour (Law'nu-); delighting (Tasurru) the observers (En'Naaziriin).' "

2:70 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

They said, "Invoke your LORD for us, to clarify to us what it is. Indeed, the cattle look-alike for us, and if GOD wills, we will be guided."

They said (Qaalu'), "Invoke (Ed'u) your LORD (Rabba-ka) for us (Lanaa), to clarify (Yubayyin) to us (Lanaa) what (Maa) it is (Hiya). Indeed (Inna), the cattle (El'Baqara) look-alike (Tashaabaha) for us (Älai'naa), and (Wa) if (In) GOD wills (Shaa'a-llahu), we (Innaa) will be (La) guided (Muh'taduun)."

2:71 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

He said, "Indeed, HE says that, 'It is a cow which does not docilely agitate in the land nor irrigate the cultivation; peaceful without defect on her.' “They said, "Now you have brought the truth."So they slaughtered her and could hardly do it.

He (Moses) said (Qaala), "Indeed, HE (Innahu) says (Yaquulu) that, 'It (Innahaa) is a cow (Baqaratun) which does not (Laa) docilely (Zaluulun) agitate (Tuthiiru) in the land (El'Ar'da) nor (Walaa) irrigate (Tas'qii) the cultivation (El'Har'tha); peaceful (Musallamatun) without (Laa) defect (Shiyata) on her (Fiihaa).' “They said (Qaalu'), "Now (El'Aana) you have brought (Ji'ta Bi) the truth (El'Haqqi)." So (Fa) they slaughtered her (Bahuu-ha) and (Wa) could hardly (Maa Kaadu') do it (Yaf'äluun).

2:72 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when you killed someone and deceived about it, and GOD brought forth what you were concealing.

And (Wa) when (Iz') you killed (Qatal'tum') someone (Naf'san) and (Fa) deceived (Eddaara'tum') about it (Fiihaa), and (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) brought forth (Mukh'rijun) what (Maa) you were (Kuntum') concealing (Tak'tumuun).

2:73 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

So We said, "Strike him with part of it."Thus GOD revived the dead and showed you HIS signs so that you might reason.

So (Fa) We said (Qul'naa), "Strike him (the dead) (Ed'ribuu-hu) with (Bi) part of it (Ba'dihaa)." Thus (Kazaalika) GOD (Ellahu) revived (Yuh'yii) the dead (El'Maw'taa) and (Wa) showed you (Yurii-kum') HIS signs (Aayaati-hi) so that you (Laällakum') might reason (Ta'qiluun).

2:74 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Then your hearts hardened after that and became like stones or stronger in hardness. For indeed, among stones are some of which rivers gush forth, and indeed, among them are some that split and water comes out of them, and indeed, among them are some that fall down from fear of GOD. And GOD is not heedless of what you do.

Then (Thumma) your hearts (Quluubu-kum) hardened (Qasat') after (Min Ba'di) that (Zaalika) and (Fa) became (Hiya) like (Ka) stones (El'Hijaarati) or (Aw') stronger (Ashaddu) in hardness (Qas'watan). For (Wa) indeed (Inna), among (Mina) stones (El'Hijaarati) are (La) some (Maa) of which (Min'hu) rivers (El'An'haaru) gush forth (Yatafajjaru), and (Wa) indeed (Inna), among them (Min'haa) are (La) some (Maa) that split (Yasshaqqaqu) and (Fa) water (El'Maa'u) comes out (Yakh'ruju) of them (Min'hu), and (Wa) indeed (Inna), among them (Min'haa) are (La) some (Maa) that fall down (Yah'bitu) from (Min') fear of GOD (Khash'yati-llahi). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is not (Maa Bi) heedless (Gaafilin) of what (Ämmaa) you do (Ta'maluun).

2:75 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Are you then desiring that they would believe you, while a group among them had already been hearing the word of GOD and then distort it after what they had understood of it while they know?

Are you then desiring (Afa’tat'mauuna) that (An) they would believe you (Yu'minu' La-kum'), while (Wa) a group (Fariiqun) among them (Min'hum') had already (Qad') been (Kaana) hearing (Yas'ma'uuna) the word of GOD (Kalaama-llahi) and then (Thumma) distort it (Yuharrifuunahu) after (Min Ba'di) what (Maa) they had understood of it (Äqaluu-hu) while (Wa) they (Hum') know (Ya'lamuun)?

2:76 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We have believed, "but when some of them retreat to others, they say, "Will you talk to them about what GOD has disclosed to you so that they can argue with you about it in front of your LORD? Will you then not reason?"

And (Wa) when (Izaa) they meet (Laqu') those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), they say (Qaaluu'), "We have believed (Aamannaa)," but (Wa) when (Izaa) some of them (Ba'du-hum') retreat (Khalaa) to (ilaa) others (Ba'din), they say (Qaaluu'), "Will you talk to them (Atuhaddithuunahum) about what (Bimaa) GOD (Ellahu) has disclosed (Fataha) to you (Älai'kum') so that (Li) they can argue with you (Yuhaajjuu-kum) about it (Bihi) in front of (Enda) your LORD (Rabbi-kum')? Will you then not (Afalaa) reason (Ta'qiluun)?"

2:77 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Or do they not know that GOD knows what they confide and what they declare?

Or do they not (Awalaa) know (Ya'lamuuna) that (Anna) GOD (Ellaha) knows (Ya'lamu) what (Maa) they confide (Yusirruuna) and what (Wamaa) they declare (Yu'linuuna)?

2:78 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And among them are the unlearned who do not know the Book except desires, and they are only assuming.

And (Wa) among them (Min'hum') are the unlearned (Ummiyyuuna) who do not (Laa) know (Ya'lamuuna) the Book (El'Kitaaba) except (illaa) desires (Amaaniyya), and (Wa) they (Hum) are only (In' illa) assuming (Yazunnuun).

2:79 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

So woe to those who write the Book with their hands and say, "This is from GOD, "in order to trade it for a little price. So woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they earn.

So (Fa) woe (Wai'lun) to those who (Lillaziina) write (Yak'tubuuna) the Book (El'Kitaaba) with (Bi) their hands (Ai'dii-him) and (Fa) say (Yaquuluuna), "This (Haaza) is from GOD (Min Enda-llahi)," in order to (Li) trade it for (Yash'taru Bi-hi') a little (Qaliilan) price (Thamanan). So (Fa) woe to them (Lahum) for what (Mimmaa) their hands (Ai'dii-him') have written (Katabat'), and (Wa) woe (Wai'lun) to them (Lahum) for what (Mimmaa) they earn (Yak'sibuun).

2:80 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And they say, "The Fire will never touch us, except for a limited number of days."Say:"Do you have an agreement with GOD? For GOD never breaks HIS agreement. Or are you saying about GOD what you do not know?"

And (Wa) they say (Qaalu'), "The Fire (3:24) (En'Naaru) will never (Lan) touch us (Tamassa-naa), except (illa) for a limited number of (Ma'duudatan) days (Ayyaaman)." Say (Qul'): "Do you have (Attakhaz'tum') an agreement (Äh'dan) with GOD (Endallahi)? For (Fa) GOD (Ellahu) never (Lan) breaks (Yukh'lifa) HIS agreement (Äh'da-hu). Or (Am') are you saying (Taquuluuna) about GOD (Älaallahi) what (Maa) you do not (Laa) know (Ta'lamuun)?"
