Al-Baqarah - Surah 2
286 verses
Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers, those are the ones upon whom is the curse of GOD, the Angels, and the people all together,
Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru') and (Wa) die (Maatu') while (Wa) they (Hum') are disbelievers (Kuffaarun), those (U'laaika) are the ones upon whom (Älai'hum') is the curse of GOD (La'natu-llahi), the Angels (El'Malaaikati), and (Wa) the people (En'Naasi) all together (Aj'maeen),
eternally therein; the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be respited.
eternally (Khaalidiina) therein (Hell) (Fiihaa); the punishment (El'Äzaabu) will not (Laa) be lightened for them (Yukhaffafu Än'humu), nor (Walaa) will they (Hum') be respited (Yunzoruun).
And your deity is One God. There is no god except HIM, the GRACIOUS, the MERCIFUL.
And (Wa) your deity (ilaahu-kum') is One (Waahidun) God (ilaahun). There is no god (Laa ilaaha) except (illa) HIM (Huwa), the GRACIOUS (Er' Rah'maanu), the MERCIFUL (Er' Rahiim). (1:1)
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variation of the night and the day, and the ships sailing through the sea with what benefits the people, and what GOD has sent down from the sky of water to revive the earth thereby after its lifelessness and spreading therein of every creature, and diverting the winds, and the clouds being subdued between the heaven and the earth are signs for people who reason.
Indeed (Inna), in (Fii) the creation (Khal'qi) of the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di), and (Wa) the variation (Ekh'tilaafi) of the night (Ellai'li) and (Wa) the day (En'Nahaari), and (Wa) the ships (El'Ful'ki) sailing (Taj'rii) through (Fii) the sea (El'Bah'ri) with what (Bimaa) benefits (Yanfau) the people (En'Naasa), and what (Wamaa) GOD (Ellahu) has sent down (Anzala) from (Mina) the sky (Es'Samaai) of (Min) water (Maain) to (Fa) revive (Ah'yaa) the earth (El'Ar'do) thereby (Bihi) after (Ba'da) its lifelessness (Maw'ti-haa) and (Wa) spreading (Battha) therein (Fiihaa) of (Min) every (Kulli) creature (Daabbatin), and (Wa) diverting (Tas'riifi) the winds (Er'Riyaahi), and (Wa) the clouds (Es'Sahaabi) being subdued (El'Musakhari) between (Bai'na) the heaven (Es'Samaai) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di) are (La) signs (Aayaatin) for (Li) people (Qaw'min) who reason (Ya’qiluun).
And among the people are those who take counterparts besides GOD, loving them as they should love GOD; but those who have believed are stronger in love for GOD. And if those who have transgressed could envision when they see the punishment that all power belongs to GOD and that GOD is severe in punishment.
And (Wa) among (Mina) the people (En'Naasi) are those who (Man) take (Yattakhizu) counterparts (Andaadan) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi), loving them (Yuhibbuunahum') as (Ka) they should love GOD (Hubbi-llahi); but (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu') are stronger (Ashaddu) in love (Hubban) for GOD (Lillahi). And (Wa) if (Law') those who (Ellaziina) have transgressed (Zolamuu') could envision (Yaraa) when (Iz') they see (Yaraw'na) the punishment (El'Äzaaba) that (Anna) all (Jamiiän) power (El'Quwwata) belongs to GOD (Lillahi) and (Wa) that GOD (Annallaha) is severe (Shadiidu) in punishment (El'Äzaab).
It is when those who were followed will clear from those who followed, and they will see the punishment, and the causes with them will be severed.
It is when (Iz') those who (Ellaziina) were followed (the idolized) (Ettubiu') will clear (Tabarra'a) from (Mina) those who (Ellaziina) followed (the idolators) (Ettabau'), and (Wa) they will see (Ra'au') the punishment (El'Äzaaba), and (Wa) the causes (El'As'baab) with them (Bihimu) will be severed (Taqattoät').
And those who followed will say, "If only we could return, then we would clear from them just as they have cleared from us."Thus will GOD show them their deeds as sorrows for them. And they will never exit from the Fire.
And (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) followed (Ettabau') will say (Qaala), "If only (Law' Anna) we could (Lanaa) return (Karratan), then (Fa) we would clear (Natabarra'a) from them (Min'hum') just as (Kamaa) they have cleared (Tabarrau') from us (Minnaa)." Thus (Kazaalika) will GOD (Ellahu) show them (Yurii-himu) their deeds (A'maala-hum') as sorrows (Hasaraatin) for them (Älai'him'). And (Wa) they (Hum) will never (Maa Bi) exit (Khaarijiina) from (Mina) the Fire (En'Naar).
O you mankind, eat from what is on earth lawful and good and do not follow the steps of the devil. Indeed, he is a clear enemy to you.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), eat (Kulu') from what (Mimmaa) is on earth (Fiil' Ar'di) lawful (Halaalan) and good (Toyyiban) and do not (Walaa) follow (Tattabi'u') the steps (Khutuwaati) of the devil (2:208) (Es'Shai'toani). Indeed, he (Innahu) is a clear (Mubiin) enemy (Äduwwun) to you (Lakum').
He only commands you to evil 1 and obscenity 2 and to say about GOD what you do not know 3.
He (the devil) only (Innamaa) commands you (Ya'muru-kum) to (Bi) evil 1 (Es'Suui) and obscenity 2 (Wal' Fah'shaai) and (Wa) to (An) say (Taquulu') about GOD (Älaallahi) what (Maa) you do not (Laa) know 3 (Ta'lamuun).
And when they are told, "Follow what GOD has sent down."They say, "Rather, we follow what we found our fathers upon."What if their fathers did not understand anything, nor were they guided?
And (Wa) when (Izaa) they are told (Qiila La-humu), "Follow (Ettabiu') what (Maa) GOD has sent down (Anzala-llahu)." They say (Qaalu'), "Rather (Bal'), we follow (Nattabiu) what (Maa) we found (Al'fai'naa) our fathers (Abaa'a-naa) upon (Älai'hi)." What if (Awalaw') their fathers (Aabaau-hum') did (Kaana) not (Laa) understand (Ya'qiluuna) anything (Shai'an), nor (Walaa) were they guided (Yah'taduun)?
And the example of those who disbelieve is like the example of those who scream of what they did not hear except calls and appeals, deaf, dumb, and blind; so they do not reason.
And (Wa) the example (Mathalu) of those who (Ellaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru') is like (Ka) the example (Mathali) of those who (Ellazii) scream (Yan'equ) of what (Bimaa) they did not (Laa) hear (Yasmau) except (illa) calls (Duää'an) and (Wa) appeals (Nidaa-an), deaf (Summu), dumb (Buk'mun), and blind (Um'yun); so (Fa) they (Hum') do not (Laa) reason (Ya'qiluun).
O you who believe, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be thankful to GOD, if it is HIM you are worshipping.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), eat (Kulu') from (Min) the good things (Toyyibaati) which (Maa) We have provided for you (Razaq'naa-kum) and (Wa) be thankful (Esh'kuru') to GOD (Lillahi), if (In) it is HIM (Iyyaahu) you (p) are (Kuntum') worshipping (Ta'buduun).
HE has only outlawed for you dead animals, blood, the meat of pig, and what has been offered to other than GOD. But whoever is compelled without desiring nor trespassing, then there is no sin upon him. Indeed, GOD is Forgiving and Merciful.
HE (God) has only (Innamaa) outlawed (Harrama) for you (Älai'kumu) dead animals (El'Mai'tata), blood (Ed'Dama), the meat (Lah'ma) of pig (El'Khinziiri), and what (Wamaa) has been offered (Uhilla Bihi) to (Li) other than GOD (Gai'ri-llahi). But (Fa) whoever (Mani) is compelled (Ed'turra) without (Gai'ra) desiring (Baagin) nor (Walaa) trespassing (Äädin), then (Fa) there is no (Laa) sin (Ith'ma) upon him (Älai'hi). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is Forgiving (Gafuurun) and Merciful (Rahiim). (16:115)
Indeed, those who conceal what GOD has revealed of the Book and trade it for a little price, those are only consuming the Fire into their bellies. For GOD will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will HE purify them, but they will have a painful punishment.
Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) conceal (Yak'tumuuna) what (Maa) GOD has revealed (Anzala-llahu) of (Mina) the Book (El'Kitaabi) and (Wa) trade it for (Yash'taruuna Bi-hi) a little (Qaliilan) price (Thamanan), those (U'laaika) are only (Maa illa) consuming (Ya'kuluuna) the Fire (En'Naara) into (Fii) their bellies (Butuuni-him'). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) will not (Laa) speak to them (Yukallimu-humu) on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati), nor (Walaa) will HE purify them (Yuzakkii-him'), but (Wa) they will have (Lahum') a painful (Aliim) punishment (Äzaabun).
Those are the ones who have traded the Guidance for error, and forgiveness for the punishment. But what is in the Fire is more persistent for them.
Those (U'laaika) are the ones who (Ellaziina) have traded (Esh'tarawu') the Guidance (El'Hudaa) for (Bi) error (Ed'Dolaalata), and (Wa) forgiveness (El'Mag'firati) for (Bi) the punishment (El'Äzaaba). But (Fa) what (Maa) is in (Älaa) the Fire (En'Naar) is more persistent for them (As'bara-hum').
That is because GOD has revealed the Book in truth. And indeed, those who dispute about the Book are in distant dissension.
That (Zaalika) is because (Bi'anna) GOD (Ellaha) has revealed (Nazzala) the Book (El'Kitaaba) in truth (Bil' Haqqi). And (Wa) indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) dispute (Ekh'talafu') about (Fii) the Book (El'Kitaabi) are in (Lafii) distant (Baeedi) dissension (Shiqaaqi).
Righteousness is not to turn your faces towards the east and the west, but righteous is one who believes in GOD, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, and the prophets; and gives money upon love for it to the relatives, the orphans, the poor people, the wayfarer, the beggars, and for the slaves; and they establish the Litany and give the Charity; and they fulfil their agreement whenever they make an agreement; and they are patient in misery, adversity, and in times of fear. Those are the ones who are truthful; and they are those who are the pious.
Righteousness (El'Birra) is not (Lai'sa) to (An) turn (Tuwallu') your faces (Wujuuha-kum') towards (Qibala) the east (El'Mash'riqi) and the west (Wal' Mag'ribi), but (Walaakinna) righteous (El'Birra) is one who (Man') believes (Aamana) in GOD (Billahi), the Last Day (Yaw'mil' Akhiri), the Angels (El'Malaaikati), the Book (El'Kitaabi), and (Wa) the prophets (En'Nabiyyiina); and (Wa) gives (Aataa) money (El'Maala) upon (Älaa) love for it (Hubbi-hi) to the relatives (Zawiil' Qur'baa), the orphans (El'Yataamaa), the poor people (El'Masaakiina), the wayfarer (Eb'na Es'Sabiili), the beggars (Es'Saailiina), and (Wa) for (Fii) the slaves (Er'Riqaabi); and (Wa) they establish (Aqaama) the Litany (Es'Solaata) and give (Aata) the Charity (Ez'Zakaata); and (Wa) they fulfil (El'Muufuuna Bi) their agreement (Äh'di-him) whenever (Izaa) they make an agreement (Äähadu'); and (Wa) they are patient (Es'Soabiriina) in (Fii) misery (El'Ba'saai), adversity (Ed'Dorraai), and (Wa) in times (Hiina) of fear (El'Ba'si). Those (U'laaika) are the ones who (Ellaziina) are truthful (Sodaqu'); and (Wa) they (Humu) are those (U'laaika) who are the pious (El'Muttaquun).
O you who believe, prescribed to you is retaliation concerning murder; the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the female for the female. But whoever pardons anything for him as his brother, then he should follow up with a kind act and payment to him in goodness. That is an alleviation from your LORD and a mercy. And whoever trespasses after that, thence he will have a painful punishment.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), prescribed (Kutiba) to you (Älai'kumu) is retaliation (5:45) (El'Qisoasu) concerning (Fii) murder (El'Qat'laa); the free (El'Hurru) for the free (Bil' Hurri), the slave (El'Äb'du) for the slave (Bil' Äb'di), the female (El'Unthaa) for the female (Bil' Unthaa). But (Fa) whoever (Man') pardons (Ufiya) anything (Shai'un) for him (Lahu) as (Min') his brother (Akhii-hi), then (Fa) he (the accused) should follow up (Ettibaau) with a kind act (Bil' Ma'ruufi) and (Wa) payment (Adaa'un) to him (ilai'hi) in (Bi) goodness (Ih'saanin). That (Zaalika) is an alleviation (Takh'fiifun) from (Min) your LORD (Rabbi-kum') and (Wa) a mercy (Rah'matun). And (Fa) whoever (Mani) trespasses (E'tadaa) after (Ba'da) that (Zaalika), thence (Fa) he will have (Lahu) a painful (Aliim) punishment (Äzaabun).
And for you is life in the retaliation, O those of intelligence perhaps you will be pious.
And (Wa) for you (Lakum') is life (Hayaatun) in (Fii) the retaliation (El'Qisoasi), O (Yaa) those (U'lii) of intelligence (El'Al'baabi) perhaps you (Laällakum) will be pious (Tattaquun).
Prescribed to you when death appears to one of you is to bequeath a good legal will for the parents and the relatives in kindness; as a duty upon the pious.
Prescribed (Kutiba) to you (Älai'kum') when (Izaa) death (El'Maw'tu) appears to (Hadora) one of you (Ahada-kumu) is to (In) bequeath (Taraka) a good (Khai'ran) legal will (4:12) (El'Wasiyyatu) for the parents (Lil' Waalidai'ni) and the relatives (Wal' Aq'rabiina) in kindness (Bil' Ma'ruufi); as a duty (Haqqan) upon (Älaa) the pious (El'Muttaqiin).
