13 verses
O you who believe, do not take MY enemies and your enemies as allies, offering friendship to them while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth, who expelled the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in GOD, your LORD. If you have gone out to strive in MY way and seeking MY approval, would you confide in them with friendship? But I am aware of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you, then he has strayed from the straight way.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), do not (Laa) take (Tattakhizu') MY enemies (Äduwwii) and (Wa) your enemies (Äduwwa-kum’) as allies (Aw'liyaa'a), offering (Tul'quuna Bi) friendship(El'Mawaddati) to them (ilai'him) while (Wa) they have (Qad') disbelieved (Kafaru') in what (Bimaa) has come to you (Jaa'a-kum) of (Mina) the truth (43:78) (El'Haqqi), who expelled (Yukh'rijuuna) the Messenger (Er'Rasuula) and (Wa) yourselves (Iyyaakum’) because (An) you believe (Tu'minu') in GOD (Billahi), your LORD (Rabbi-kum). If (In) you have (Kuntum) gone out (Kharaj'tum) to strive (Jihaadan) in (Fii) MY way (Sabiilii) and seeking (Eb'tigaa'a) MY approval (Mar'doatii), would you confide in them (Tusirruuna ilai'him) with friendship (Bil' Mawaddati)? But (Wa) I am (Anaa') aware (A'lamu) of what (Bimaa) you have concealed (Akh'fai'tum) and what (Wamaa) you have declared (A'lantum). And (Wa) whoever (Man) does it (Yaf'äl'hu) among you (Minkum), then (Fa) he has (Qad’) strayed (Dolla) from the straight (Sawaa'a) way (Es'Sabiil).
If they should apprehend you, they would be enemies to you and stretch their hands at you and their tongues with evil, and they wish you would disbelieve.
If (In) they (the disbelievers) should apprehend you (Yath'qafuu-kum), they would be (Yakuunu') enemies (A'daa'an) to you (Lakum) and (Wa) stretch (Yab'sutuu') their hands (Ai'diya-hum’) at you (ilai'kum) and (Wa) their tongues (Al'sinata-hum) with (Bi) evil (Es'Suui), and (Wa) they wish (Waddu' Law') you would disbelieve (Tak'furuun).
Never will your kinship nor your children benefit you; HE will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection. For GOD is cognizant of what you do.
Never (Lan) will your kinship (Ar'haamu-kum’) nor (Walaa) your children (Aw'laadu-kum) benefit you (Tanfaä-kum’); HE will judge (Yaf'silu) between you (p) (Bai'nakum) on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is cognizant (Basiir) of what (Bimaa) you do (Ta'maluuna).
There has been a good pattern for you in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are free from you and from what you worship besides GOD. We reject you, so antagonism and hatred has appeared between us and you forever until you believe in GOD alone, "however Abraham said to his father, "I will apologize for you, but I do not control anything against GOD for you.""Our LORD, on YOU we have relied, and to YOU we have repented and to YOU is the destiny.
There has (Qad') been (Kaanat) a good (Hasanatun) pattern (Us'watun) for you (Lakum’) in (Fii) Abraham (Ib'raahiima) and (Wa) those (Ellaziina) with him (Maähu), when (Iz') they said to (Qaalu' Li) their people (Qaw'mi-him), "Indeed, we (Innaa) are free (Bura'aau') from you (Minkum) and (Wa) from what (Mimmaa) you worship (Ta'buduuna) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi). We reject you (Kafar'naa Bi-kum), so (Wa) antagonism (El'Ädaawatu) and hatred (Wal' Bag'doau) has appeared (Badaa) between us and you (Bai'naa Wa Bai'na-kumu) forever (Abadan) until (Hattaa) you believe (Tu'minu') in GOD (Billahi) alone (Wah'dahu)," however (illa) Abraham (9:114) (Ib'raahiima) said to (Qaw'la Li) his father (Abii-hi), "I will (La) apologize (As'tag'firanna) for you (Laka), but (Wa) I do not (Maa) control (Am'liku) anything (Min Shai') against GOD (Minallahi) for you (Laka)." "Our LORD (Rabba-naa), on YOU (Älai'ka) we have relied (Tawakkal'naa), and (Wa) to YOU (ilai'ka) we have repented (Anab'naa) and to YOU (ilai'ka) is the destiny (El'Masiir). (33:21)
"Our LORD, do not render us as trial for those who disbelieve, but forgive us, our LORD. Indeed, YOU are the ALMIGHTY, the WISE."
"Our LORD (Rabba-naa), do not (Laa) render us (Taj'äl'na) as trial (Fit'natan) for those who (Lillaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru'), but (Wa) forgive us (Eg'fir' La-naa), our LORD (Rabba-naa). Indeed (Innaka), YOU (Anta) are the ALMIGHTY (El' Äziizu), the WISE (El' Hakiim)."
There has certainly been a good pattern for you in them for whoever is expecting GOD and the Last Day. And whoever turns away, then indeed, GOD is the RICH, the PRAISEWORTHY.
There has certainly (Laqad') been (Kaana) a good (Hasanatun) pattern (Us'watun) for you (Lakum) in them (Fiihim) for whoever (Liman) is (Kaana) expecting GOD (Yar'ju'llaha) and (Wa) the Last Day (El'Yaw'mal' Aakhira). And (Wa) whoever (Man) turns away (Yatawalla), then (Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is (Huwa) the RICH (El' Ganiyyu), the PRAISEWORTHY (El' Hamiid). (60:4)
Perhaps GOD will assign friendship between you and those you have been enemies among them; for GOD is Omnipotent, and GOD is Forgiving and Merciful.
Perhaps (Äsaa) GOD (Ellahu) will (An) assign (Yaj'äla) friendship (Mawaddatan) between you and (Bai'na-kum Wa Bai'na) those (Ellaziina) you have been enemies (Äädai'tum) among them (Min’hum); for (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Omnipotent (Qadiir), and (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Forgiving (Gafuurun) and Merciful (Rahiim).
GOD does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of the religion 1 and do not expel you from your homes 2; from being nice to them and being equitable to them. Indeed, GOD loves those who are equitable.
GOD (Ellahu) does not (Laa) forbid you (the believers) (Yan'haa-kumu) from (Äni) those who (Ellaziina) do not (Lam') fight you (Yuqaatiluu-kum’) because of (Fii) the religion 1 (Ed'Diini) and do not (Walam') expel you (Yukh'rijuu-kum) from (Min) your homes 2 (Diyaari-kum); from (An') being nice to them (Tabarruu-hum) and (Wa) being equitable (Tuq'situu') to them (ilai'him). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) loves (Yuhibbu) those who are equitable (El'Muq'sitiin).
GOD only forbids you from those who fight you because of the religion 1 and expel you from your homes 2 and assist in your eviction 3; from befriending them. And whoever befriends them, then they are those who are the transgressors.
GOD (Ellahu) only (Innamaa) forbids you (Yan'haa-kumu) from (Äni) those who (Ellaziina) fight you (Qaataluu-kum) because of (Fii) the religion 1 (Ed'Diini) and (Wa) expel you (Akh'rajuu-kum) from (Min) your homes 2 (Diyaari-kum) and assist in (Zoaharu' Älaa) your eviction 3 (Ikh'raaji-kum); from (An) befriending them (Tawallaw'hum). And (Wa) whoever (Man) befriends them (Yatawalla-hum), then (Fa) they (Humu) are those (U'laaika) who are the transgressors (Ez'Zoalimuun).
O you who have believed, whenever the believing women come to you as emigrants, then examine them *; GOD is aware of their faith. And if you recognize them as believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers. They are not lawful for them, nor are they lawful for them, but give them what they have spent. There is no blame on you to marry them when you have given them their fees, and do not hold disbelieving women in defence, but ask for what you have spent and let them ask for what they have spent. That is the judgement of GOD, HE judges between you; for GOD is Omniscient and Wise.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu'), whenever (Izaa) the believing women (El'Mu'minaatu) come to you (Jaa'a-kumu) as emigrants (Muhaajiraatin), then (Fa) examine them (f) (Em'tahinuu-hunna)*; GOD (Ellahu) is aware of (A'lamu Bi) their faith (iimaani-hinna). And (Fa) if (In) you recognize them (Älim'tumuu-hunna) as believers (Mu'minaati), then (Fa) do not (Laa) return them (Tar'jiuu-hunna) to (ilaa) the disbelievers (El'Kuffaari). They (f) (Hunna) are not (Laa) lawful for them (Hillu Lahum'), nor (Walaa) are they (the disbelievers) (Hum) lawful for them (f) (Yahilluuna La-hunna), but (Wa) give them (the disbelievers) (Aatuu-hum) what (Maa) they have spent (Anfaqu'). There is no (Laa) blame on you (Junaaha Älai'kum’) to (An) marry them (f) (Tankihuu-hunna) when (Izaa) you have given them (Aatai'tumuu-hunna) their fees (Ujuura-hunna), and (Wa) do not (Laa) hold (Tum'siku') disbelieving women (El'Kawaafiri) in (Bi) defence (Esomi), but ask for (Was'alu') what (Maa) you have spent (Anfaq'tum) and let (Wal') them (the disbelievers) ask for (Yas'alu') what (Maa) they have spent (Anfaqu'). That (Zaalikum) is the judgement of GOD (5:50) (Huk'mu-llahi), HE judges (Yah'kumu) between you (Bai'nakum); for (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is Omniscient (Äliimun) and Wise (Hakiim).
And if any of your wives go by you at all to the disbelievers and you go after, then give those whose wives have departed the like of what they have spent. And beware of GOD, in whom you are believers.
And (Wa) if (In) any of (Min) your wives (Az'waaji-kum) go by you (the believers) (Faata-kum) at all (Shai'un) to (ilaa) the disbelievers (El'Kuffaari) and (Fa) you go after (pursue) (Ääqab'tum), then (Fa) give (Aatu') those (Ellaziina) whose wives (Az'waaju-hum) have departed (Zahabat') the like (Mith'la) of what (Maa) they have spent (Anfaqu'). And (Wa) beware of GOD (Ettaqu'llaha), in (Bihi) whom (Ellazii) you (Antum) are believers (Mu'minuun).
O you Prophet, whenever the believing women come to you in order to pledge allegiance to you that they shall not associate anything with GOD 1, nor will they steal 2, nor will they fornicate 3, nor will they kill their children 4, nor will they bring forth a slander which they have invented between their hands and their legs 5, nor will they disobey you in service 6; then pledge allegiance to them and seek the forgiveness of GOD for them. Indeed, GOD is Forgiving and Merciful.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) Prophet (En'Nabiyyu), whenever (Izaa) the believing women (El'Mu'minaatu) come to you (Jaa'a-ka) in order to (Älaa) pledge allegiance to you (s) (Yubaayi'naka) that (An) they shall not (Laa) associate (Yush'rik'na) anything (Shai'an) with GOD 1 (Billahi), nor (Walaa) will they steal 2 (Yas'riq'na), nor will they fornicate 3 (Yaz'niina), nor will they kill (Yaq'tul'na) their children 4 (Aw'laada-hunna), nor will they bring forth (Ya'tiina Bi) a slander (Buh'taanin) which they have invented (Yaf'tariina-hu) between (Bai'na) their hands (Ai'dii-hinna) and (Wa) their legs 5 (Ar'juli-hinna), nor (Walaa) will they disobey you (Ya'siina-ka) in (Fii) service 6 (Ma'ruufin); then (Fa) pledge allegiance to them (Baayi'hunna) and seek the forgiveness of GOD (Es'tag'fir'llaha) for them (f) (Lahunna). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is Forgiving (Gafuurun) and Merciful (Rahiim).
O you who believe, do not befriend a people with whom GOD has become angry -, they have despaired of the hereafter just as the disbelievers among the companions of the graves.
O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), do not (Laa) befriend (Tatawallaw') a people (Qaw'man) with whom (Älai'him) GOD has become angry (Gadiba-llahu), they have (Qad') despaired (Ya'isu') of (Mina) the hereafter (El'Aakhirati) just as (Kamaa) the disbelievers (El'Kuffaaru) among (Min') the companions (As'haabi) of the graves (El'Qubuur).
