9:42 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Had there been a nearby exhibition and heading for a journey, they would have followed you, but the distance was remote for them. And they will swear by GOD, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you, "they are ruining their souls, and GOD knows that they are liars.

Had there been (Law' Kaana) a nearby (Qariiban) exhibition (Äradoan) and (Wa) heading for (Qaasidan) a journey (Safaran), they would have (La) followed you (s) (Ettabauu-ka), but (Walaakin) the distance (Es'Shuqqatu) was remote (Baudat') for them (Älai'himu). And (Wa) they will swear (Sa Yah'lifuuna) by GOD (Billahi), "If (Lawi) we were able (Es'tato'naa), we would have (La) gone forth (Kharaj'naa) with you (Maäkum')," they are ruining (Yuh'likuuna) their souls (Anfusa-hum'), and (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) knows (Ya'lamu) that they (Innahum') are (La) liars (Kaazibuun).

9:43 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

GOD has pardoned you; why did you give them permission until those who were truthful became clear to you and you found out the liars?

GOD (Ellahu) has pardoned you (s) (Äfaa Än-ka); why (Lima) did you give them permission (Azinta La-hum') until (Hattaa) those who (Ellaziina) were truthful (Sodaqu') became clear (Yatabayyana) to you (s) (Laka) and (Wa) you found out (Ta'lama) the liars (El'Kaazibiin)?

9:44 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Those who believe in GOD and the Last Day would not request for your authorization to strive with their wealth and their souls. And GOD is aware of those who are pious.

Those who (Ellaziina) believe (Yu'minuuna) in GOD (Billahi) and (Wa) the Last Day (El'Yaw'mil' Aakhiri) would not (Laa) request for your authorization (s) (Yas'ta'zinuka) to (An) strive (Yujaahidu') with (Bi) their wealth (Am'waali-him') and their souls (Anfusi-him'). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is aware of (Äliimu Bi) those who are pious (El'Muttaqiin).

9:45 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Only those who do not believe in GOD and the Last Day and whose hearts have doubted would request for your authorization, for they are hesitating in their doubt.

Only (Innamaa) those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) believe (Yu'minuuna) in GOD (Billahi) and the Last Day (Wal' Yaw'mil' Aakhiri) and whose hearts (Quluubu-hum') have doubted (Er'taabat') would request for your authorization (s) (Yas'ta'zinuka), for (Fa) they (Hum') are hesitating (Yataraddaduun) in (Fii) their doubt (Rai'bi-him').

9:46 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it by preparation, but GOD disliked their send off, so HE discouraged them and they were told, "Remain with those sitting back."

And (Wa) if (Law') they had intended (Araadu') to go forth (El'Khuruuja), they would have (La) prepared (Aäddu) for it (Lahu) by preparation (Uddatan), but (Walaakin) GOD disliked (Kariha-llahu) their send off (Enbi'äätha-hum'), so (Fa) HE discouraged them (Thabbata-hum') and (Wa) they were told (Qilla), "Remain (Eq'udu') with (Maä) those sitting back (El'Qaaediin)."

9:47 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

If they had gone forth with you, they would have only increased you in confusion, and they would have devised through you, seeking for you discord, and among you are listeners to them. And GOD is aware of the transgressors.

If (Law') they had gone forth (Kharaju') with you (the believers) (Fiikum), they would have only (Maa illa) increased you (-Zaaduu-kum') in confusion (Khabaalan), and (Wa) they would have (La) devised (Aw'dau') through you (Khilaalakum), seeking for you (Yab'guunakumu) discord (El'Fit'nata), and (Wa) among you (Fiikum') are listeners (Sammaa'uuna) to them (Lahum'). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is aware of (Äliimu Bi) the transgressors (Ez'Zoalimiin).

9:48 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

They had certainly sought discord before and had turned matters upside down for you until the truth came and the command of GOD appeared, while they were averse.

They had certainly (Laqadi) sought (Eb'tagawu') discord (El'Fit'nata) before (Min Qab'lu) and (Wa) had turned matters (El'Umuura) upside down (-Qallabu') for you (s) (Laka) until (Hattaa) the truth (El'Haqqu) came (Jaa'a) and the command of GOD (Am'ru-llahi) appeared (Zohara), while (Wa) they (Hum') were averse (Kaarihuun).

9:49 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And among them is one who says, "Permit me but do not put me to trial."Verily, they have fallen into a trial. For indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers.

And (Wa) among them (Min'hum') is one who (Man) says (Yaquulu), "Permit me (E'zanllii) but (Wa) do not (Laa) put me to trial (Taf'tinnii)." Verily (Ala), they have fallen (Saqatu') into (Fii) a trial (El'Fit'nati). For (Wa) indeed (Inna), Hell (Jahannama) will (La) encompass (Muhiitotu Bi) the disbelievers (El'Kaafiriin).

9:50 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

If good touches you, it distresses them; but if a misfortune touches you, they say, "We already had our concern before, "and they turn away while they are rejoicing.

If (In) good (Hasanatun) touches you (s) (Tusiib'ka), it distresses them (Tasu'hum'); but (Wa) if (In) a misfortune (57:22) (Musiibatun) touches you (s) (Tusib'ka), they say (Yaquulu'), "We already (Qad') had (Akhaz'naa) our concern (matter) (Am'ra-naa) before (Min Qab'lu)," and (Wa) they turn away (Yatawallaw') while (Wa) they (Hum') are rejoicing (Farihuun).

9:51 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Say:"Never will we be afflicted except what GOD has decreed for us; HE is our guardian. And so let the believers rely on GOD."

Say (Qul): "Never (Lan) will we be afflicted (Yusiiba-naa) except (illa) what (Maa) GOD (Ellahu) has decreed (Kataba) for us (Lanaa); HE (Huwa) is our guardian (master) (Maw'laa-naa). And (Wa) so let (Fal') the believers (El'Mu'minuun) rely (Yatawakkali) on GOD (Älaallahi)."

9:52 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

Say:"Do you only await for us one of the two best things, while we await for you that GOD should afflict you with a punishment from HIM or by our hands? So keep waiting, indeed we are with you waiting."

Say (Qul'): "Do (Hal') you only (illa) await for us (Tarabbasuuna Binaa) one (Ih'daa) of the two best things (El'Hus'nayai'ni), while (Wa) we (Nah'nu) await for you (Natarabbasu Bikum') that (An) GOD (Ellahu) should afflict you (Yusiiba-kumu) with (Bi) a punishment (Äzaabin) from HIM (Min' Endihi) or (Aw') by (Bi) our hands (Ai'diinaa)? So (Fa) keep waiting (Tarabbasuu'), indeed we (Innaa) are with you (Maäkum) waiting (Mutarabbisuun)."

9:53 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

9:54 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And what prevented theirs from being accepted from them is only because they have disbelieved in GOD and in HIS messenger, and they do not come to the Litany except while they are lazy, nor do they disburse except while they are unwilling.

And (Wa) what (Maa) prevented theirs (Manaä-hum') from (An) being accepted (Tuq'bala) from them (Min'hum') is only (illaa) because they (Annahum') have disbelieved (Kafaru') in GOD (Billahi) and in (Bi) HIS messenger (Rasuuli-hi), and they do not (Laa) come to (Ya'tuuna) the Litany (Es'Solaata) except (illa) while (Wa) they (Hum') are lazy (Kusaalaa), nor (Walaa) do they disburse (Yunfiquuna) except (illa) while (Wa) they (Hum') are unwilling (Kaarihuun).

9:55 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

So let not their wealth nor their children amaze you. GOD only intends to punish them thereby in the worldly life, and their souls will vanish while they are disbelievers.

So (Fa) let not (Laa) their wealth (Am'waalu-hum') nor (Walaa) their children (Aw'laadu-hum') amaze you (s) (Tu'jib'ka). And they swear by GOD that they are with you while they are not with you; but they are a divisive people.

And (Wa) they (the hypocrites) swear (Yah'lifuuna) by GOD (Billahi) that they (Innahum') are (La) with you (the believers) (Minkum') while (Wa) they (Hum) are not (Maa) with you (Minkum'); but they (Walaakinnahum') are a divisive (Yaf'raquun) people (Qaw'mun).

If they could find a refuge or caves or an entrance, they would turn to it while they are unruly.

If (Law') they could find (Yajiduuna) a refuge (Mal'ja'an) or (Aw') caves (Magaaraatin) or (Aw') an entrance (Muddakhalan), they would (La) turn (Wallaw') to it (ilai'hi) while (Wa) they (Hum') are unruly (Yuj'mahuun).

9:58 Shuaib Abdullahi (EN)

And among them are those who criticize you concerning the charities; and if they are given therefrom, they are pleased, but if they are not given therefrom, then they are displeased.

And if only they had been pleased with what GOD and HIS messenger gave them and said, "GOD is sufficient for us; GOD will give us from HIS favour and so will HIS messenger; indeed, we are wishing to GOD."

And (Wa) if only they (Law' Anna-hum') had been pleased (Radu') with what (Maa) GOD (Ellahu) and HIS messenger (Rasuulu-hu) gave them (Aataa-humu) and said (Qaalu'), "GOD is sufficient for us (Has'bunaa-llahu); GOD (Ellahu) will give us (Sa Yu'tiinaa) from (Min) HIS favour (Fad'li-hi) and so (Wa) will HIS messenger (Rasuulu-hu); indeed, we (Innaa) are wishing (Raagibuun) to GOD (ilaallahi)."
